• The Temple Theatre will present “Smoke on the Mountain” at 8 p.m. at the theatre, 120 Carthage St., Sanford. The show tells the story of a Saturday night gospel sing at a country church in North Carolina's Smoky Mountains in 1938. The show features two dozen bluegrass songs, played and sung by the Sanders Family. Admission prices range from $23 for general adult admission to $13 for children and students. • A Chatham County Democratic Party precinct meeting for Pittsboro will be held at 7 p.m. at the Ag Auditorium, Agricultural Center, 65 East St., Pittsboro.

• The Sanford Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Dandalia Bakery at 4 p.m. at 1907 Bragg St., Sanford. Guests are invited to return March 8 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. for a grand opening event, which will feature face painting, specials, giveaways and more.

SATURDAY

• A wild game dinner will be held from 6-8 p.m. at Flat Springs Baptist Church, 4148 Deep River Road, Sanford. The annual dinner will include game from the air, land, and sea, as well as side dishes and dessert prepared by church members. There will also be a speaker and door prizes. Admission is free.

• A grand opening celebration will be held from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Dandalia Bakery, 1907 Bragg St., Sanford. The store will offer face painting, giveaways, and more. There will also be a live radio remote.

• Sporting Clays Fun Shoot will be held from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Deep River Sporting Clays and Shooting School, 284 Cletus Hall Road, Sanford. This is a 100-target, NSCA registered shoot.

• Doors will open at the Boogie Fever Dance Convention and Championships at 8:15 a.m. at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center, 1801 Nash St., Sanford. • A Bowdacious Bow Making Class will be held from 3-5 p.m. at Karma Boutique in Sanford. Participants will learn how to make bows for wreaths, packages, mailboxes, light posts etc. They also will be taught how to use a bowdabra bow maker. • The North Carolina Democratic Party will hold annual precinct organizational meetings at 10 a.m. at the Lee County Democratic Party Headquarters, 139 Chatham St. The meetings are open to all registered Democrats in Lee County. Attendees will be electing delegates to the Lee County Democratic Party County Convention on Saturday, April 5, at 10 a.m. at the Lee County Courthouse. Coffee, juice and donuts will be served. • Cara Black, author of the Parisian-based mysteries featuring Aimee Leduc, returns at 2 p.m. to McIntyre’s Books, located in Fearrington Village in Pittsboro. • The 79th Annual Highfalls Old-Time Fiddlers’ Convention will be held at 4 p.m. at North Moore High School Auditorium, located on North Moore Road between High Falls and Robbins. Registration for participants will begin at 3 p.m. and end at 5 p.m. Bands can participate without preregistration. Admission is $7 per person, and tickets can be purchased at the door. A concession stand will be open throughout the evening. More than $1,800 in cash prizes and ribbons will be given in numerous categories. • The Above and Beyond 21st Century Open House will be held from 10 a.m.-noon at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Sanford/Lee County O.T. Sloan location, 1414 Bragg St., Sanford. This open house will include a tour of the new STEM modules that high school participants are now working on. All current and new high school participants have been awarded free membership to the Boys and Girls Club because of their participation in the 21st Century program.

• The Youth Arts Month Reception, Spring Market and Kids Art Day will be held from noon-4 p.m. at the Lee County Arts Council, 144 S. Steele St., Sanford. The reception will include live music, dancing, booths demonstrating how to make soap, paint a personal masterpiece, improve your photographs and more. Refreshments are available while they last. An exhibit featuring the work of young artists will be on display and remain through March 21.
