  • A free comprehensive diabetic nutrition management class will be held at 4 p.m. in the community classroom at Central Carolina Community College, 1135 Carthage St., Sanford. This class is open to the public but designed to educate people with diabetes about using food as medicine to control their blood sugars, prevent long-term problems and live a healthier life.   • Members of the public can join a park ranger at 8 p.m. at Raven Rock State Park in Lillington for a one-hour program to discover some of the secrets, sounds and myths of the park's night life. Taxidermy mounts will be on display. Participants will meet at the visitor center.

  • The low vision support group will meet at 1 p.m. at the Enrichment Center of Lee County.
  • A tour of Chatham County Cooperative Extension's Pollinator Paradise Demonstration Garden will be held today, and every second Wednesday of the month through November, at 5:30 p.m. Participants should meet on the sidewalk in front of Chatham Marketplace.   • A diabetes nutrition 101 class will be held at 11 a.m. in the rehab services classroom at Central Carolina Community College, 1135 Carthage Road, room 110, Sanford. This class is open to the public but is ideal for new diabetics or people who need some basic tips to get stated managing their diabetes. It is also great for people with pre-diabetes who wish to change their lifestyle to slow or stop the progression to diabetes. Family and care givers are welcome to attend. Register at
  • A free gestational diabetes nutrition class will be held at 10 a.m. in the rehab services classroom at Central Carolina Community College, 1135 Carthage Road, room 110, Sanford. This class is for pregnant women who have gestational diabetes, and students will learn which foods contain carbohydrates and how to manage their intake to control their blood sugar during pregnancy.   • The Chatham Economic Development Corporation will host a joint meeting at 7 p.m. at the Siler City campus of Central Carolina Community College, at 400 Progress Blvd. with the Board of Commissioners, the town boards of Goldston, Pittsboro, and Siler City, and the Board of Education to give an update on a countywide conceptual land use plan. In the next few months, Chatham County and the EDC will work closely with the towns on developing a related infrastructure plan and will hold additional meetings for residents and businesses to educate them on the benefits of the adopted strategy and get their input on next steps.   • Lee County Schools Superintendent Andy Bryan will hold a public meet-and-greet event at 5:30 p.m. at J.R. Ingram Elementary School. Bryan will hold a total of seven informal gatherings at elementary schools around the county, giving him the chance to hear from parents, community members and educators about the direction they would like to see Lee County Schools take in the next few years.   • The Board of Directors of Johnson-Lee-Harnett Community Action Inc. will hold its board meeting at 6:30 p.m. at 1102 Massey St., Smithfield.
  • The Sanford Area Chamber of Commerce's AM Buzz networking event will be held at 7:30 a.m. at Dandalia Bakery, 1907 Bragg St., Sanford.
  • In coordination with the Chatham Chamber of Commerce, a ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration will be held at 11 a.m. at the new Siler City location of Chatham Habitat for Humanity, 134 N.
