• The Temple Theatre will present “Plaid Tidings,” the Christmas sequel to “Forever Plaid,” at 2 and 7 p.m. at the theatre, 120 Carthage St., Sanford. • Grief counseling, sponsored by Knotts Funeral Home, will be held at 7 p.m. at New Zion Baptist Church, 3324 Truelove St., Sanford. • Carolina Town and Country will hold “Pictures with Santa” from noon-3 p.m. at the store, 710 E. Main St., Sanford. Members of the public are invited to bring their pets, kids or themselves. Melanie Thystrup will be taking the pictures again this year.

• A Christmas vendor bazaar will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Jaycee Hut, 809 Tryon St., Sanford.

• The Airborne & Special Operations Museum Foundation will hold a “Breakfast with Santa” from 7-10 a.m. at Applebee's, 1961 Skibo Road, Fayetteville. The cost is $7 per adult and $5 for kids under 12; children under 2 are free with a paying adult. To make reservations, call (910) 643-2778 or visit the museum's gift shop. Immediately following breakfast, Santa will head over to the Airborne & Special Operations Museum, where he will be available for “Photos with Santa” from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Each photo is $5.

• The U.S. Postal Service will extend Saturday retail hours for the Sanford Post Office, 1200 S. Horner Blvd., during the last two weekends before the Christmas holiday. The post office will be open today (Saturday) from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. The extended hours are designed to help alleviate the holiday rush and provide additional mailing and shipping convenience to customers during what is projected to be a busy shopping season.

TUESDAY

• Town of Broadway offices will be closed in observance of the Christmas holiday.

• Lee County offices will be closed in observance of the Christmas holiday.

• City of Sanford offices will be closed in observance of the Christmas holiday.

• The Main Lee County Library and Broadway Library will be closed in observance of Christmas.

• Bella Donna Italian Restaurant will begin serving its annual free Christmas Eve dinner at 5 p.m. at 44 East St., Pittsboro. The event will end when the food is gone; and any leftovers will be taken to the women's shelter or to the firehouse. Those interested in helping to cook, decorate or donate money to buy some pantry items, please stop by or call (919) 545-0900. Servers, cooks, decorators, cleaners, dessert makers, greeters and other volunteers will be needed. Everyone is welcome to stop by.
