TODAY

• Santa will make an appearance from 1-3 p.m. at Jackson Brothers, 2424 Jefferson Davis Highway, Sanford. Bring a camera to get a photo with him.

• The Temple Theatre will present “Plaid Tidings,” the Christmas sequel to “Forever Plaid,” at 2 p.m. at the theatre, 120 Carthage St., Sanford. Filled with Christmas standards that have all been “Plaid-erized,” our boys are back to do their Christmas special. Prices range from $13 for children/students to $23 for regular adult admission. MONDAY

• All Chatham County library branches will close at 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 23, and will remain closed Tuesday, Dec. 24 through Thursday, Dec. 26. Normal hours will resume on Friday, Dec. 27.

TUESDAY

• Town of Broadway offices will be closed in observance of the Christmas holiday.

• Lee County offices will be closed in observance of the Christmas holiday.

• City of Sanford offices will be closed in observance of the Christmas holiday.

• The Main Lee County Library and Broadway library will be closed in observance of Christmas.

• Bella Donna Italian Restaurant will begin serving its annual free Christmas Eve dinner at 5 p.m. at 44 East St., Pittsboro. The event will end when the food is gone; and any leftovers will be taken to the women's shelter or to the firehouse. Those interested in helping to cook, decorate or donate money to buy some pantry items, please stop by or call (919) 545-0900. Servers, cooks, decorators, cleaners, dessert makers, greeters and other volunteers will be needed. Everyone is welcome to stop by.

• The annual Alzheimer's and Dementia Workshop, with dementia care specialist Teepa Snow, will be held from 1-4 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session from 4-4:30 p.m., at the Dennis A. JAN. 8

• The next scheduled Lee County Library Trustee meeting will be held at 5:15 p.m. in the conference room of the Main Library, 107 Hawkins Ave., Sanford. The agenda includes Quiz Bowl and budget.

JAN. 9

• A newborn care class, designed to educate parents on the physical care of the newborn, development needs of the young infant and adjustment to parenthood, will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the community classroom at Central Carolina Community College, 1135 Carthage St., Sanford. • Chatham Community Library will host a free affordable health care workshop that is open to the public from 1-3 p.m. in the computer lab of the main branch in Pittsboro. The workshop will be led by certified application counselors and will include one-on-one enrollment sessions. Participants who plan to enroll should bring social security numbers for each person in the household who needs coverage (or document numbers for legal immigrants), employer and income information (such as W-2s or pay stubs) for each person in the household, and policy numbers for any current health insurance anyone in the household currently has.
