• Parents are invited to bring their toddlers and preschoolers for story time today and every Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Broadway Library, 206 S. Main St., Broadway. This week's story time theme is "Merry Christmas!" Those in attendance will share stories, sing songs, do rhymes and more. WEDNESDAY

• The Harnett County Library will host local author Adam English at 10 a.m. at the Harnett County Public Library in Lillington. English, a Campbell University professor, will be the guest speaker for the Turning Pages Book Club and will talk about his book “The Saint Who Would Be Santa Claus.” He will have copies of his book available for purchase and will provide personalized autographs. • The Temple Theatre will present “Plaid Tidings,” the Christmas sequel to “Forever Plaid,” at 2 and 7 p.m. at the theatre, 120 Carthage St., Sanford. • The Airborne & Special Operations Museum Foundation will hold a “Breakfast with Santa” from 7-10 a.m. at Applebee's, 1961 Skibo Road, Fayetteville. The cost is $7 per adult and $5 for kids under 12; children under 2 are free with a paying adult. To make reservations, call (910) 643-2778 or visit the museum’s gift shop. Immediately following breakfast, Santa will head over to the Airborne & Special Operations Museum, where he will be available for “Photos with Santa” from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Each photo is $5.

• The U.S. Postal Service will extend Saturday retail hours for the Sanford Post Office, 1200 S. Horner Blvd., during the last two weekends before the Christmas holiday. The post office will be open today (Saturday) from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. The extended hours are designed to help alleviate the holiday rush and provide additional mailing and shipping convenience to customers during what is projected to be a busy shopping season.
