n HAVEN in Lee County will continue its volunteer training with the second of four required sessions from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at 215 Bracken St., Sanford.

n The Lee County Center of North Carolina Cooperative Extension will be starting “Eat Smart Move More Weigh Less,” a 16-week weight management program, at noon at the Cooperative Extension Center, 2420 Tramway Road, Sanford. “Eat Smart Move More Weigh Less” is a support group of individuals who are fighting the “losing” battle together. Through weekly lessons, participants will learn to select sensible foods and increase their physical activity in order to lose weight. To qualify for the class, individuals must have at least 10 pounds to lose. There is an enrollment fee of $28, which includes all materials. n Ballroom dance lessons for beginners will be offered at 6:45 p.m. at the Enrichment Center of Lee County with instructor Judith McDonald, president of Outreach Programs, US Dance.
