• Mark Luellen, Forestry Association president, has arranged for the association to conduct a field day on Cecil Cameron's forestland in Sanford; participants will depart in the county van no later than 1 p.m. from the Lee County Extension Center. • A reception and awards ceremony for the show "Pigment of Our Imagination" will be held from noon-2 p.m. at the Artists' Loft, Shops of Steele Street Mezzanine. Awards will be presented to local homeschoolers who participated in the show.

• Temple Theatre will present “Forever Plaid” at 2 and 7 p.m. at 120 Carthage St. On the way to their first big concert, singing quartet The Plaids are killed in a car accident. Due to the alignment of space and time, The Plaids are able to return to Earth for one final concert. The Plaids perform some of the greatest hits from the 1950s in four-part harmony before returning back. The show runs through March 17; Tickets prices are $23 for adults (Thursday night adult ticket is $19), $13 for children/students and $19 for Lee County teachers/educators, active military and groups of 10 or more. • Guests can paint a Monet-Inspired masterpiece with artist Shirley Patterson from 6-8 p.m. at the Carolina Artists' Colony, 148 S. Moore St, downtown Sanford. • The Safety Committee of Wings of Carolina hosts bimonthly gatherings for club fellowship and aviation education. These meetings are open to members, prospective members, and their guests. • The Carolina Artists' Colony invites patrons to celebrate National Pig Day with the Swine and Wine Event from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the colony, located at 148 S. Moore St., Sanford. This free, First Friday event will include a complimentary barbecue sauce tasting, raffles for $25 and $50 Artists' Colony gift certificates, complimentary wine and samplings of My Own Happy Pantry treats, a Pig Parade of pig doodles drawn by attendees during the event and hung on the colony's orange hall wall, a "Meet and Greet" with artists and artisans and plenty of pig-themed creations.

• Methodist University’s touring choral ensemble, the Methodist University Chorale, will present a free concert at 7 p.m. at Jonesboro United Methodist Church, 407 W. Main St., Sanford. This is the kick-off event in anticipation of their seven-concert tour from Fayetteville to Orlando, Fla. The group will present works from different musical epochs, with special performances by soloists from the group, MU Chamber singers and pianist John Drymon.
