Recount doesn't change school board results
The results of the Democratic primary for the Lee County Board of Education were unchanged after a recount held Tuesday night.
Candidate Richard Hayes, a former member of the school board and of the county commissioners, narrowly lost out in the primary earlier this month to Shawn Williams, another former school board member running for a second stint on the board.
After the results of the recount showed that neither man's vote tally had changed and Williams still led by three votes, Hayes issued a statement thanking local elections officials for their diligence. He also threw his full support behind the three Democrats who now officially move on to the general election in November: Williams, Ophelia Livingston and Mark Akinosho.
