The festival will run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. in downtown Broadway. Contestants can sign up for this year’s double-elimination cornhole tournament, for which there is a $250 cash prize for tournament champions and a $100 prize for runners-up. The entry fee for the tournament is $30 per two-member team. Start time is 11 a.m. at the N.C. Veterans Memorial, but in case of rain, the tournament will be held at the Broadway Elementary School gym. Please register by 10:45 a.m.
The festival’s first donut hole-eating competition will be held at 6 p.m.
A number of other attractions begin at 10 a.m. on Main Street. Patrons can enjoy the street fair, with many returning vendor favorites along with new ones. Also, free kids’ activities will be back. Activities, rides and games run until 4 p.m. Also, guests can check out this year’s array of classic and antique cars, trucks, motorcycles and tractors.
Ten teams will be accepted for competition in this year’s barbecue cook-off, featuring people’s choice awards. Tasting begins at 11 a.m., and $5 buys unlimited barbecue tasting and the opportunity to vote for a favorite. The entry fee is $100 per team, and pigs are provided by the Festival Committee. The first-place prize is $250, second place $150 and third place $100.
Live entertainment will be offered throughout the day and evening. At 7 p.m., Gene Dickens and Second Chance Band perform for the family-friendly street dance.
