Broadway board will meet Monday
Several items that could have an impact on the local economy will be up for discussion at the Broadway Board of Commissioners meeting this Monday.
The meeting, which will start at 7 p.m. in the council’s meeting room at102 E. Lake Drive, will also be the first meeting since Commissioner Clemellyn “Clem” Welch died earlier this month. On the agenda are plans to discuss filling her now-vacant seat, as well as a variety of budgetary concerns, including:
• A memorandum of understanding regarding the merger of the Sanford Area Chamber of Commerce and the Lee County Economic Development Corporation into a single public-private entity.
• A public hearing about next year’s budget, which could include tax increases, personnel cuts or both due to less property tax revenue and the re-allocation of about $100,000 in sales tax revenue out of the town’s coffers and into the county’s.
• Interlocal agreements and financial statements.
