Broadway man arrested in connection with robbery

A Broadway man is in police custody this week following a reported weekend shooting and robbery at a local auto parts store.

Pierre Alexander Amerson, 20, of the 2500 block of Beila Bridge Road, Broadway, was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury Monday night, according to a Sanford Police Department news release. He was placed in Lee County Jail under a $150,000 secured bond.

Police responded to Union Tire Service, located at 500 S. Horner Blvd., at 4:55 p.m. Friday in reference to an armed robbery and shooting. A suspect reportedly fired at and hit store employee Emmerson Molina, 34, of Sanford, in his right leg, according to the release. An undisclosed amount of money reportedly was taken from Molina, who was taken to Central Carolina Hospital and later released.
