Highway Patrol investigates Chatham County traffic fatality
At approximately 1:15 p.m., Wednesday, the Highway Patrol responded to a two vehicle head-on collision on Silk Road near Romine Pike Road in Chatham County. Early indications are that this may be weather related.
A preliminary investigation has revealed that the driver, Miguel Arquimides Caseres, 45, of Siler City, was traveling south on Silk Road when he lost control of his 1996 Ford passenger vehicle on a snow covered roadway. The vehicle reportedly then traveled left of center into the path of a 1999 Chevrolet. As a result, the front right passenger in the Chevrolet died.
The driver, Miguel Arquimides Caseres, has been charged with misdemeanor death by a motor vehicle and exceeding a safe speed. The name of deceased is not being released, pending next of kin notification.
