Young Harnett man found dead with gunshot wound
A death investigation is still in the early stages after a Harnett County man was found dead with a gunshot wound in a Sanford driveway Wednesday evening.
Officers discovered Chavez “Chop” Lamar Spearman, 21, of Lillington, in his car with a gunshot wound to his facial area in his vehicle in the driveway of a residence in the 2400 block of Shawnee Drive at 6:14 p.m., according to a Sanford Police Department release.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel, and handgun was located lying inside the vehicle, according to the report.
The body was transported to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy. Shawnee Drive residents said they heard at least one gunshot Wednesday afternoon.
Several of Spearman's friends took to Facebook and Twitter, sharing their or most recent memories and photos of the 21-year-old man.
According to Spearman's Facebook profile, he graduated from Harnett Central High School in 2010.
