Mar. 07, 2013 @ 04:58 AM

The public is invited to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with the Friends of the Harnett County Library at 2 p.m. March 17 at the Harnett County Public Library in Lillington.

Featured entertainment for the afternoon is Southwind, playing traditional Irish, Scottish, New England, French-Canadian and Cape Breton music. The band consists of Alison Arnold on wooden flute and tin whistle, Julie Gorka on Celtic harp and Gordon Arnold on cello.

A short business meeting will precede the entertainment with election of new officers.

The Friends are raffling some prizes, including a 32-inch flat-screen television, a sterling silver and crystal Irish pendant, copies of "The Tarheel Traveler" by Scott Mason and a few surprises. Tickets are $1 each and will be available from any member of the Friends. A participant does not need to be present to win.

Refreshments and a social hour will follow the program. This event is free, and the public is cordially encouraged to attend.
