SANFORD: City rezones site for medical office, names new appointee
In a brief, 20-minute meeting Tuesday, the Sanford City Council rezoned an acre of property, considered public comments from three individuals and made an appointment to its planning board.
The following items were discussed during the 1 p.m. city council meeting:
• Rezoning: City council rezoned nine-tenths of an acre at 2805 S. Horner Blvd. from light industrial to general commercial to be used by Martin Eye Associates as a new office.
• Public comments: The Sanford Area Association of Realtors intends to form a committee to present ideas and feedback to city council on a monthly basis, according to its President Pamela Gordon. Ken Laughinghouse, member of the Sanford Appearance Commission, thanked city council for approving a tree ordinance that will make Sanford a Tree City USA. Keith Clark, a Republican candidate for the at-large district seat, asked council members to answer a series of questions on a number of city issues, which he supplied, and to hold a public forum where residents could ask questions about the city’s $14.5 million bond referendums.
• Planning Board: Appointed Tom Joyner as an alternate to the Sanford Planning Board.
• Consent agenda: Approved the consent agenda, which included an amendment to the city’s audit contract, adoption of a tree ordinance for the city and approval of various minutes from previous meetings.
