Armed suspect sought after fatal shooting
UPDATE: 3:07 p.m.: The name of the victim from this morning's fatal shooting has been released. Anthony Wayne Giles, 45, of the 100 block of Hickory Nut Court, was shot and killed after an armed suspect broke into the residence.
Law enforcement officers are searching for an armed suspect accused of fatally shooting a resident of the 100 block of Hickory Nut Court shortly before 6 a.m. this morning.
The Lee County Sheriff officers are searching for a tall black man, with less than shoulder length dreadlocks and wearing a black toboggan and a sheriff department sweatshirt, with an "assault-type" rifle, according to Lee County Capt. Jeff Johnson. There is no indication the suspect is a sheriff's department employee or former employee at this time, he said.
The victim's wife and two adult children were also in the house and not injured.
