Cameron girl dies in wreck
A 16-year-old Cameron girl was killed in a single-vehicle accident after leaving her boyfriend’s house Thursday night.
Kayla Rose Lineberry of the 100 block of Ryan Drive, Cameron, died after her vehicle ran off of Summer Hill Church Road and struck a tree shortly before 9 p.m., according to the N.C. Highway Patrol.
Wet weather may have been a contributing factor, according to the report.
“She was wearing a seat belt, and there was no indication of drugs, texting or alcohol,” according to the Highway Patrol secretary Edith McLean.
The former Union Pines High School student and cheerleader transferred to a new school this year, according to a Moore County Schools official.
Many family members and friends expressed their love for Lineberry and their prayers for her family through various social media outlets.
