One dead, one hurt in separate shootings

Area law enforcement officers are searching for individuals in connection with two unrelated shootings in Central Carolina.

The Moore County Sheriff's Office is looking for 26-year-old Carlos Terrell McLaughlin, 26, of Carthage, after a shooting in Vass that left one man dead.

The shooting on Linclon Avenue in Vass occurred shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday after a caller reported her neighbor had come to her residence about an altercation involving a handgun, according to a Moore County Sheriff's Office news release. Officers discovered Lonnie Jermaine Hines, 25, of Aberdeen, dead at the scene.

Anyone with information about McLaughlin's whereabouts are asked to contact the Vass Police Department at (910) 947-2911 or the Moore County Sheriff's Office at (910) 947-2931.

Meanwhile, the Harnett County Sheriff's Office is looking for a heavyset black man, approximately 5 feet 8 inches in height, with the nickname "BR," in connection with a shooting that occurred early Friday morning in Broadway.

James Lee Jones, 30, reportedly was assaulted and shot shortly before 3 a.m. Friday and was taken to Central Carolina Hospital, according to a Harnett County Sheriff's Office news release. He was taken to UNC Hospital for a gunshot wound, and his condition is unknown.

Detectives described BR as an individual who "likely has information" about the shooting, and anyone with information about the incident or the identity of BR is asked to contact the Harnett County Sheriff's Office at (910) 893-9111.
