A family of seven was displaced after their home was destroyed in a fire Monday night.

The American Red Cross of Lee County is assisting the family with lodging and money for groceries, clothing and storage, Lee County Red Cross Coordinator Michele Bullard said Tuesday.

No injuries were reported, according to Lee County Fire Inspector Michael Tatum, who added that the family was not present when the fire began around 8 p.m.

The cause of the fire at the family’s double-wide mobile home, located in the 100 block of Orchard Road, is still under investigation, Tatum said.

“It was a total loss,” he said. “The fire was knocked out pretty quickly, but overall, [the firefighters] were there for about 2 1/2 hours.”

The Tramway Fire Department, Lemon Springs Fire Department, Emergency Medical Services, Lee County Sheriff’s Office and the Lee County Fire Marshall’s Office responded to the fire.

The family could not be reached for comment.
