Sanford Fire Department personnel respond Tuesday to a single-vehicle accident, in which no one was injured. The wreck occurred shortly after 3 p.m. on Wall Street. The car came to rest at a nearly 90-degree angle and appeared caught on the wiring of a utility pole. The driver, whose name was not available Tuesday, was unharmed, according to Capt. Otis Holt of the SFD. No further details were available about the cause of the accident. Catherine Butler, spokesperson for Duke Energy, said while at least one business may have seen their electricity flicker, only two customers experienced an outage. Butler said a Duke representative was on the scene, and that those customers were expected to have power restored by 4:45 p.m. Tuesday.
