People who want to help military charities while also getting some entertainment can do so tonight or Saturday morning and afternoon.

Kangaroo Express is teaming up, for the second year in a row, with the USO to hold a talent show in Sanford as part of its Salute Our Troops campaign. It's today at 6 p.m. at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center, with 10 local acts competing for a $2,000 prize.

Saturday, starting at 10 a.m., people can come out for Family Fun Day at the Kangaroo store at 2062 Horner Blvd. There will be a bounce house for children, an Army combat helicopter display, giveaways through a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle.

There will also be a motorcycle poker run Saturday from the same location, with registration starting at 10 a.m. and the pack leaving at 11 a.m.

Funds raised during the Sanford Family Fun Day event will go directly to the Salute Our Troops campaign, which raises awareness and funds for the USO of NC, Fisher House Foundation, Soldiers and Airmen Assistance Fund of North Carolina (SAAF-NC) and the United States Veterans Corps (USVC).

According to a statement from the company, "With more than half of Kangaroo Express stores located within 25 miles of a military installation, supporting our troops and their families is part of the fabric of Kangaroo Express and the communities in which it operates."
