Sanford woman dies in car crash
Charges are pending in a two-car crash that claimed the life of a 19-year-old Sanford woman and injured three others late Thursday, according to the N.C. Highway Patrol.
Jessica Renee Wilson, 19, of Sanford, was identified as the fatality in the crash, which occurred at 10:15 p.m. Thursday on N.C. Highway 87 at Broadway Road. Wilson was reportedly one of three passengers in a 1998 Nissan driven by Rebecca Rochelle, 25, of Sanford.
Also in the car were Richard Ryan Rochelle, 23, and Stewart James Tyner, 23, both of Sanford.
The Nissan was reportedly headed southbound on N.C. 87 while a Dodge pickup, driven by David Ryan King, 21, of Spring Lake, was traveling northbound. According to the Highway Patrol, the Nissan turned left onto Broadway Road in front of the pickup, which struck the Nissan’s right side.
The Nissan apparently had failed to yield, according to the Highway Patrol, and neither speed nor alcohol were identified as factors.
Rebecca Rochelle and Richard Rochelle were reportedly transported to Cape Fear, and their conditions were not available Friday. Tyner and Wilson were reportedly taken to Central Carolina Hospital, where Tyner was listed in good condition Friday afternoon.
While the Highway Patrol indicated that charges are pending, they have not been specified, and the incident remains under investigation.
