SANFORD POLICE: Operation Relentless nets 49 arrests to date

Police have apprehended more than a dozen additional suspects in Operation Relentless, bringing the arrest tally in the undercover campaign to 49 as of Friday afternoon.

The bust, billed as the result of the largest undercover operation in Sanford's history, kicked off Thursday morning. The Sanford Police Department's Tactical Narcotics Team began executing warrants involving a reported 137 suspects for 285 drug buys — totaling 1,227 charges. The Tactical Narcotics Team targeted parts of the city with high drug and crime rates, according to police.

The operation involved a year of planning and coordination, said Sanford Police Capt. Dan Kehagias. Local police are serving warrants with the help of numerous local and state partners, including the Lee County Sheriff's Department's Narcotics Division and the N.C. Department of Revenue, as well as the Sanford Police Department's Selective Enforcement Unit, Community Policing, Uniform Patrol and Detective Division.  

The latest arrests, made between Thursday evening and Friday afternoon, are as follows, according to the Sanford Police Department:

* Bettie Fetterman Blalock, of the 300 block of South 7th Street, was charged with conspiracy to sell and deliver cocaine, conspiracy to sell and deliver heroin, possession with intent to sell a counterfeit controlled substance, sell and deliver a counterfeit controlled substance, and felony maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance.

*Edward Jr. Kelly ("Duck"), of the 1700 block of Farrel Road, was charged with two counts of possession with intent to sell cocaine, two counts of sell and deliver cocaine, two counts of conspiracy with intent to sell and deliver cocaine and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

*Gary Donnell Jackson, of the 600 block of South Moore Street, was charged with conspiracy to sell and deliver cocaine.

* George Ed Murchison IV, of the 300 block of 7th Street, was charged with one count of possession with intent to sell clonazepam, one count sell and deliver clonazepam, one count of selling drug within 1,000 feet of a school and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

* Iesha Mechelle Johnson, of the 300 block of 8th Street, was charged with two counts of possession with intent to sell marijuana, two counts of sell and deliver marijuana, two counts of selling a drug within 1,000 feet of a school, two counts of maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, one count of conspiracy to sell and deliver marijuana and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

* Johnatan Antonio McNeill, of the 100 block of East Chisholm Street, was charged with five counts of possession with intent to sell cocaine, five counts of sell and deliver cocaine, one count of conspiracy to sell and deliver cocaine, one count of possession with intent to sell marijuana, one count of sell and deliver marijuana, four counts of conspiracy to sell and deliver marijuna and six counts of selling a drug within 1,000 feet of a day care.

* Joshua Lewis McNeill, of the 100 block of East Chisholm Street, was charged with possession with intent to sell marijuana, sell and deliver marijuana and selling a drug within 1,000 feet of a day care.

*Lydia Holder Bland, of the 1600 block of Lower Moncure Road, was charged with conspiracy to sell and deliver marijuana.

* Makel Leecontin Quick, of the 400 block of Maple Avenue, was charged with possession with intent to sell marijuana, sell and deliver marijuana, selling a drug within 1,000 feet of a day care and possession of drug paraphernalia.

* Michael Anthony Taylor, of the 400 block of Crestview Street, was charged with possession with intent to sell marijuana, sell and deliver marijuana, possession with intent to sell oxycodone, sell and deliver oxycodone, two counts of possession with intent to sell a schedule IV controlled substance, four counts of selling a drug within 1,000 feet of a day care, four felony counts of maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance and three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

* Robert Wade Hooker, of 700 block of Magnolia Street, was charged with possession with intent to sell marijuana, sell and deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia

* Santron Alton Patterson, of the 500 block of Bracken Street, was charged with one count of possession with intent to sell marijuana, one count sell and deliver marijuana, one count of selling a drug within 1,000 feet of a day care and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

* Willie Donaldson, of the 700 block of Hudson Street, was charged with one count of possession with intent to sell marijuana, one count of sell and deliver marijuana, two counts of trafficking in opiates, one count of possession with intent to sell oxycodone, one count sell and deliver oxycodone, one count of conspiracy to sell and deliver oxycodone, two counts of felony maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

* Antonio Minter, of the 100 block of Chisholm Street, was charged with one count of possession with intent to sell cocaine, one count sell and deliver cocaine, one count of felony maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, one count of selling a drug within 1,000 feet of a day care, one count of conspiracy to sell and deliver marijuana and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Kehagias said additional arrests and charges may result from evidence collected during the bust, and the operation is ongoing.
