Man injured; two charged with assault
A local man sustained serious injuries after falling from a moving vehicle Tuesday after a reported altercation.
Jacob Scott Lemley, 17, of the 200 block of Key Road, Sanford, was listed in serious condition at Duke Hospital Wednesday, according to Lee County Sheriff's Office Capt. Jeff Johnson.
Lemley was standing outside of his home when he reportedly became involved in a physical altercation with Taylor Wood Cole, 20, of the 400 block of Wilmer Road, Sanford, and Ronald Samuel Vogel III, 22, of the 2600 block of Lanlier Drive, Sanford — both of whom were in a white SUV, according to a sheriff's office report. Lemley either stuck his head into the passenger window of the vehicle or was pulled into the vehicle, Johnson said, and the cause of the altercation is currently unknown.
Witnesses reported Lemley was being assaulted while inside the vehicle and he fell after the vehicle sped off, Johnson said. Lemley was unconscious after falling from the vehicle and he was undergoing surgery at Duke last Tuesday night, according to the report.
Cole and Vogel were charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and held at Lee County Jail, according to authorities.
