Two face felony charges in restaurant robbery
Two Lee County men reportedly are in custody following a robbery at knife point at a local pizza restaurant Tuesday night.
Bill Daviell-Jaix Freeland, 24, of the 1700 block of Westover Drive, was charged with felony possession of a stolen firearm, two felony czounts of robbery with a firearm or other dangerous weapon and felony breaking or entering a building while Benjamin Liddell Dowdy, 26, of the 900 block of Gibson Drive, was charged with two felony counts of robbery with of a firearm or other dangerous weapon and felony breaking or entering a building after a Pizza Hut employee reported being robbed, according to Sanford Police Sgt. Harold Layton.
Officers responded to the restaurant, which is located at 1923 S. Horner Blvd., shortly before 11 p.m. Tuesday after a female employee reported that two men illegally entered the store, revealed a knife and “took property from the clerk,” Layton said.
The suspects were arrested shortly after, Layton said.
No injuries were reported, and both suspects were held at the Lee Regional Jail under a $40,000 secured bond.
