Chatham man charged with sexual offenses against minor
A Chatham County man was charged with several sexual offenses involving a child Monday after a month-long investigation by authorities.
Phillip Broyal, 30, of the 300 block of Vander Oldham Road, Bear Creek, who is a registered sex offender, was charged with felony indecent liberties with a child, felony statutory rape and felony child abuse causing serious bodily injury after a 13-year-old female relative reported being assaulted, according to a release from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office.
Broyal has been arrested and convicted on two previous occasions in Granville and Durham counties for felony indecent liberties with a minor and registered as a sex offender in Chatham County in 2011, according to the release.
Broyal was held under a $500,000 secured bond and scheduled to appear in court March 11.
