Lee Commissioners approve budget

Jun. 16, 2014 @ 11:18 PM

The Lee County Board of Commissioners approved the county budget for the fiscal year 2014-2015 at its meeting Monday night.

The approved budget kept the property tax rate at 72 cents and contained no fee increases for residents.

Commissioner Robert Reives asked to raise the property tax to 75 cents per $100 valuation, but the motion failed.

Major changes to the budget include providing at least one student resource officer to each school in the Lee County system and two new positions added to the Department of Social Services.
