ROBBINS — James David Simmons, 49, of Robbins, died Friday (2/28/14) at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Collins Chapel Congregational Church in the Bellview community of Robbins with Elders Ray Smith and Freddy Smith officiating.
A native of Moore County, he was a 1983 graduate of North Moore High School and had formerly worked with Klaussner Furniture and UPS. He was preceded in death by his father, James Edward Simmons.
He is survived by his mother, Louise Smith Simmons; sister, Tammy Foxx and husband Chris of Greensboro; and several nieces and nephews.
A wake was held Monday night at Kennedy Funeral Home in Robbins. The family is receiving friends at the home.

SILER CITY — Funeral service for Cynthia Christine Simmons, 58, who died Tuesday (2/25/14), was held at 2 p.m. Monday at Knotts Funeral Home in Pittsboro with the Rev. Pamela Moffitt officiating.
Soloists were Minister Cheryl Siler-Jones and Kristy Cross.

MILDRED MARKS DOUGLAS
CAMERON — Mildred Marks Douglas, 72, of Cameron, died Monday (3/3/14) at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.
She was born on July 11, 1941, in Harnett County, to the late Norman Marks and Ida West Marks. She was a member of Cameron Hill Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Marks Simpson.
She is survived by her husband, Howard Douglas; a daughter, Susan Putnam and husband Victor of Cameron; brothers, Clarence Marks and wife Doris, Dewitt Marks and wife Barbara, and Harold Marks and wife Jo, all of Cameron; sisters, Louine Becker and husband Allen of Fayetteville, Glenda Tucker and husband John of Seven Lakes and Bonnie Lyczkowski and husband John of Cameron; and one grandson.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Cameron Hill Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Coffey officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

BROADWAY — Funeral service for William "Sap" Taylor, 83, who died Friday (2/28/14), was held at 2 p.m. Monday at Holly Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Parsons officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.
Musicians were David and Louise Oyster, and soloist was Cynthia Spivey.
Pallbearers were Darrell Patterson, Greg Patterson, Anthony Patterson, Randy Taylor, Stan Taylor, Robert Wright, Mike Kelly, Tommy Oakley, Darnell Taylor and Johnny Lane Taylor.

SANFORD — Carolyn Joyce Pearson, 67, of W. Garden St., died Friday (2/28/14) at her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Nannie Johnson; brothers, Chamberlain, Michael and Jessie Johnson; sister, Emily Leak; and a daughter, Alyssa Pearson.
She is survived by her husband, Jerald Pearson; daughter, Cecilia Pearson of Sanford; son, Tony Pearson of Washington, D.C.; two brothers, David Johnson (Gloria) of Patterson, N.J., and James Johnson of Sanford; two sisters, Linda Larkins (Leroy) of Landover, Md., and Judith Hancock (Dennis) of Sanford; two grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Lee Memory Gardens.
A visitation will be held today from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Watson Memorial-Cunningham & Son's Mortuary.
