BEAR CREEK — James Corbett Baldwin, 86, of Bear Creek died Thursday, March 13, 2014 at his home.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Buffalo Cemetery.

Mr. Baldwin was born in Edgecombe County, son of the late Corbett M. Baldwin and Effie I. Poole Baldwin. Mr. Baldwin was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Rosser Baldwin; his son, Earl Baldwin; grandson, Jason Baldwin; sisters, Ernestine Yow, Mary Clark, Gladys Smith.

Mr. Baldwin is survived by his sons, Randy Baldwin and wife Maggie of Bear Creek, Bobby Beard and wife Pat of Sanford, and John Beard and wife Peggy of Bear Creek; a daughter, Marie Garrison of Bay City, Texas; brothers, Grady Baldwin and wife Lydia of Angier, and Doc Baldwin and wife Shirley of Columbia, SC; sisters, Peggy Corley and husband Bill of Columbia, SC and Betty Mae Goins of California; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Baldwin of Goldston; grandchildren, Wade Baldwin, Ray Baldwin, Heather Doucette, Tina Morgan, Steve Beard, Tracy Beard, Greg Garrison, Sandra Oliver and Paula Goza; 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home from 6 p.m. till 8 p.m.

SANFORD — Virgil Leslie Cole, 96, died Thursday (3/13/14) at First Health Hospice House in Pinehurst.

He was born in Lee County on Oct. 16, 1917, to the late Archibald Burgress Cole and Cora Jackson Cole. He was a retired carpenter. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Bettie McDuffie Cole; two brothers, Earl Cole and Coley Cole; and a sister, Ossie Cole Autry.

He is survived by his wife, Julia Hester Cole; son, Gary W. Cole and wife Kathy of Sanford; daughter, Rhenda Cole Redman of Sanford; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be conducted today at 11 a.m. at Grace Chapel Christian Church with the Rev. Bob Yandle and the Rev. Joel Murr officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the FirstHealth Hospice Foundation, 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst, N.C. 28374.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Calvin Reece Hardee Jr., 76, of Sanford, who died Monday (3/10/14) at the First Health Hospice House in Pinehurst, was conducted Thursday at 7 p.m. at Crossroads Ministries with Pastor John Sauls and the Rev. Mark Whitfield officiating. Burial followed Friday at 11 a.m. at Broadway Town Cemetery.

The Crossroads Ministries' Praise Band and No Limits Choir provided the music. A trio was performed by Ryan Barbato, Vickie and Mike Carswell. Ryan Barbato also sang a solo at the church and at the graveside.

Pallbearers were Larry Godwin, Scott O'Quinn, Mark Donathan, Paul Austin, Jimmy Penny and Tim Mangum.

SANFORD — Graveside service for James Lewis Langley, 82, of Sanford, who died Wednesday (3/12/14) at his home, was conducted Friday at 1 p.m. at Lee Memory Gardens with Chaplain Joel Cameron officiating.

Pallbearers were Mitch Pinson, Ronnie Pinson, Brent Barker and Dean Waters.

SILER CITY — Yarelin Nayeli Granados Ocampo, 4-month-old daughter of Enereno Ocampo and Reyna Granados, died Wednesday (3/12/14) in Siler City.

Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Iglesia Pentecostal Rey de Gloria with Pastor Maynor Maldonado officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

She was born in Chapel Hill on Oct. 26, 2013.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brother, Jacob; and sisters, Jennifer and Maritza.

The family will be at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church prior to the service. People may also visit the family at the home at 655 East Fifth St., Siler City.

BROADWAY — Funeral service for Magaline “Meg” Rosser Thomas Hunter, 89, of Broadway, who died Tuesday (3/11/14), was held Friday at 2 p.m. at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gregg Presnal officiating.

Witness of love was given by granddaughter Gina Carter Butler. Burial followed at the church cemetery with a special dove-release ceremony.

Ronnie Byrd was the accompanist. Soloist was Bill Gross, and the group consisting of Kathryn Waters, Sue Buie, Sylvia Thomas, Bill Gross and Gregg Presnal sang. The congregation also sang.

Pallbearers were Dale Barnhill, Bob Morris, Danny Rosser, Mark Rosser, Mike Rosser and Gary Thomas.
