SANFORD — Memorial service for Sarah Crosby Reeves, 94, who died Wednesday (6/26/13), was held Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Luke United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. A. Gene Cobb Jr.  presiding.

Eulogy was given by Jimbo Parrott. Dianne Williamson Stanley was organist. de Forest String Quartet were musicians. Randolyn Emerson was soloist and Harris Ray was crucifer.

BEAR CREEK — Dennis Parker Jordan Jr., 73, of Vander Oldham Road, died Thursday (6/27/13) at his residence.

He was born in Forsyth County on Jan. 15, 1940, the son of Dennis Parker and Hattie (Gregory) Jordan. He was an Army veteran, employed by Chatham County as a mechanic and a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Floyd and Lloyd Jordan; sister, Frances Morrison; and a grandson, Stephen Gaines.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Doris (Brewer) Jordan; one daughter, Denise Jordan Gaines; three sisters, Linda Hesselmeyer of Ramseur, and Peggy Hall and Judy Warren, both of Sanford; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends today from 6 until 8 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home in Siler City.

Funeral service will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Goldston with the Rev. David Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

PITTSBORO — Myrtle Rogers, 82, of 63 Pete Roberson Road, died Wednesday (6/26/13) at her residence.

She is survived by six children, Elmer Rogers Jr., (Nancy) of Siler City, Robert Rogers (Elaine), Hattie Rogers, Kathie Rogers, and Johnnie Rogers (Georgia), all of Pittsboro, and Annie Reaves (Ernest) of Bear Creek; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one step-grandchild; two step great-grandchildren; two brothers, Vernon Brooks (Helen) of Pittsboro and James Brooks of Danville, Va.; one sister, Lucille Goldston of Siler City; one sister-in-law, Hattie Brooks of Pittsboro; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Mitchell's Chapel AME Zion Church in Pittsboro

PITTSBORO — David Raul Quiroz Castillo died Sunday (6/23/13).

He was born in Caracas, Venezuela, on Jan. 3, 1989 to Argelis Quiroz Leal and Rita Consuelo Scardina Castillo. Raised in North Carolina, he attended in Carrboro, Salt Lake City, Utah and Pittsboro where he graduated in 2007.

He is survived by his wife Christina; son, Logan; daughter, Adriana; his mother, Rita; father, Argelis; brother, Ricardo; and sisters, Eva (Britt), Haidyth (Jonathan) and Adriana (Mike).

Funeral service was held Thursday at 10 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Chapel Hill. Interment was at the Westwood Cemetery immediately after the funeral services.

Donations may be made in lieu of flowers on behalf of Logan Quiroz.

SANFORD — Marvin Douglas McKinney, 53, of 5017 Oakhill Drive, died Wednesday (6/26/13) at his residence. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Knotts Funeral Home.


SANFORD — Funeral service for James Junior Petty, 56, who died Saturday (6/22/13), was held at 1 p.m. Friday at Knotts Funeral Home with Minister Deon Allbrooks officiating.

Soloist was Minister Deon Allbrooks.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Treva King Crissman, 92, who died Tuesday (6/25/13), was held Friday at 11 a.m. at Pocket Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Dudley officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

The organist was Tina Rickard and the congregation sang.

Pallbearers were Wayne Sloan, Larry Sloan, James Duncan, Brandon Duncan, Charles Blue and Steve Wilson.

The family received friends in the church fellowship hall following the funeral service and burial.

CAMERON — William Donald (Donnie) Collins, 50, died Friday (6/21/13).

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Collins; one son, Derek Collins of Sanford; stepson, Chris Spivey of Sanford; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Williams of Cary; five grandchildren; and many brothers and sisters.

A memorial service will be held at San Lee Chapel in Sanford at 6 p.m. Monday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the charity of one’s choice.


SANFORD — John Edward “Jack” Langton “Pop”, 80, of 1860 Farrell Road, passed away Thursday (6/27/13) at his home.

He was born on May 19, 1933, in Philadelphia, Pa. He served in the Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was retired from the State of New Jersey and from M&H Electric of Sanford. He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Shirley Ash Langton.

He is survived by his daughters, Kathleen Langton-Furman of Franklin Lakes, N.J., and Lorrie Blackburn and Robyn Blackburn Clark, both of Sanford; his son, Robert Caputi of Mahwah, N.J.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors and friends at his home on Sunday between 1 and 5 p.m.
