ROUGEMONT — Albert Osborne Palmer, 75, of Rougemont, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Duke Regional Hospital, Durham.

Born in Jonesboro, Mr. Palmer was the son of the late Robert Martin Palmer Sr. and Mae Osborne Palmer. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Josephine Gunter Palmer; and a brother, Robert Martin Palmer Jr.

Mr. Palmer is survived by his wife, Marie Duncan Palmer; daughter, Kathy Palmer Howard and husband John of Gallatin, TN; stepdaughter, Sharon Latta Kinion and husband Wyn of Williamston, NC; sister, Virginia Palmer Gillis and husband James of Sanford; four grandchildren, Adam Palmer Howard, Zane Davis Howard, Hunter Thomas Kinion and Skyler Marie Kinion; and many special nieces and nephews.

Albert was a member of Mt. Sylvan United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Action Sunday School Class, the Sylvan Seniors and the 4-C's Bible Study Group. He was a member of the Amran Shrine Temple and past president of the Ragtop Unit. He was a past president of the Triangle Shrine Club. He was also a 50 year member of the Durham Masonic Lodge #352. Albert worked with Duke Energy Company for 37 years. After retirement, he was a past president and member of the Triangle Chapter of Duke Energy Retirees. He enjoyed golfing with the Bahama Golf Group as long as his health permitted. He also volunteered with the Duke Cancer Patient Support Program for 10 years.

A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Buckhorn United Methodist Church Cemetery. Following the burial, a memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at Mt. Sylvan United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Bowden and Pastor Kathie Wilkinson officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Clements Funeral Home, Durham.

The family greatly appreciates the excellent care provided by the Duke Cardiology Team and Dr. Walter Fowler.

Albert was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was greatly loved and will be missed.

SOUTHPORT — Graveside service for Dianne Smith Metcalfe, 59, of Southport, formerly of Sanford, who died Friday (8/1/14) at Duke Regional Hospital, was conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at Buffalo Cemetery with the Rev. Darrin Moore officiating.

Soloist was Ravenne Escobar, who sang one hymn, and releasing of the Doves ceremony was given at the graveside.

Arrangements were by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.


SANFORD — Memorial service for Imogene Price Eaton, 62, of Sanford, who died Friday (8/1/14), was held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wesley Thomas officiating.

Recorded music was played. A time of remembrances was shared by family and friends.

The family received friends at the funeral home following the memorial service.

SANFORD — Funeral services for Harlen Lloyd Harris, 88, of Sanford, who died Monday (7/28/14), were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Baptist Chapel Church with the Rev. Alex Smith officiating and on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Fern Creek Funeral Home in Louisville, Ky., with the Rev. Tom Curry officiating. Burial with military honors followed at the Resthaven Memorial Cemetery in Louisville.

Pianist was Cynthia Abercrombie and soloist was Shirl Smith.

Pallbearers were Jeffrey Harris, Brock Harris, Zeke Brinley, Tommy Brinley, Robby Brinley and Chad Brinley.

Honorary pallbearer was Tyler Brinleyl.
