SANFORD — A graveside service for Wilbur Gary Farlow, who died June 13 in Pamlico County, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Buffalo Cemetery. A reception will follow the service.

He was born July 28, 1943, to Roscoe and Golda Farlow in Sanford. He graduated from Sanford Central High School and earned an architectural degree from N.C. State University. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Germany and Vietnam. Upon returning from Vietnam, he became an architect with the U.S. Navy Dept.

He is survived by a brother, Tom Farlow and wife Carolyn of Denton, Texas; and a stepsister, Sherry Daughty and husband Bill of Raleigh.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.



SANFORD — Funeral service for Juanita Key Hall, 82, of Sanford, who died Tuesday (8/5/14), at the FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst, was conducted Friday at 7 p.m. with Rev. Tim Lanier and Pastor David Kimbrell officiating.

Music was provided by Sanctuary Choir of the Sanford Church of God. Soloist Sylvia Jackson sang one selection. Tim Lanier gave a eulogy and sang one song. Comments and reflections were given by George Duval. The accompanists were Britton Altman on the piano, Anita Leggette on keyboard, guitarist David Overton, Ernest Sharpe on the trumpet, Caryn Keith on the saxophone, Trey Phillips on drums and Choir Leader Jason Hunt.

Pallbearers were Ferrell Leggette, Bradley Wright, Alex Leggette, Austin Leggette and Ricky Poole.

Burial followed Saturday at 11 a.m. at Grace Chapel Church Cemetery. The congregation sang one song, and doves were released at the graveside.

BUNNLEVEL — Karen Lynn Bullock Dollar, 58, of Bunnlevel died Friday (8/8/14) surrounded by her family.

She was born in Cumberland County to the late Thomas Worthy and Geneva Elizabeth Bullock. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon “Pete” Dollar; sisters, Jane Gaskins and Amyillis Bullock; and brothers, Tommy Dale, Joe and Ricky Bullock.

She retired with 20 years at Campbell University in Public Safety and was a member of Massey Hill Baptist Church. 

She is survived by three daughters, Stephanie Ponnequin and husband Dale, Jennifer Ezzell and husband Tony, and Tiffney Dollar and husband Lewis Hawkins; a son, James Dollar; seven sisters, Charlotte Somers, Rebecca Washington, Lorrie Baggett, Dwane Wicker, Martha Hudgins, Patsy Ladner and Dusty Dethloff; a brother, Kenny Bullock; a sister-in-law, Patsy Pittman; and 15 grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Massey Hill Baptist Church with pastor Tim Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street. The family will receive friends from 6  to  8 p.m. Monday at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home and other times at the home of Stephanie Ponnequin.

CARTHAGE — Eula Esther Reynolds Bennett, 97, of Carthage, died Thursday (8/7/14) at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst, with her family by her side.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m. at New Covenant Community Church at 301 McLaughlin Road, Cameron, with Pastor Douglas Garner and Pastor Troy Wiley officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home. Burial will follow in Lamm’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

She was born in Mt. Airy on April 9, 1917 to Charlie and Martha Key Reynolds.

She is survived by her children, Nelson Bennett and wife Dot, Carolyn Ann Garner and Linda Kiser; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Clinton Bennett; parents, Charlie and Martha Key Reynolds; three sisters, Lela, Ada, Pearl; four brothers, Willis, Arthur, Ray, Boyd; and one grandson.

Joffre A. Taylor 74, of Jamaica, N.Y. died August 4, 2014 in Jamaica, N.Y.

Service will be conducted Monday, Aug. 11, 2014 at 11:00 am at Presbyterian Church of St. Albans by Dr. Edward Davis, Senior Pastor. Viewing from 10 - 11 am at the church. Interment will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Farmingdale, N.Y.

He was a graduate of W.B. Wicker High School Class of 1958. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service. Joffre's parents were the late William M. and Cherry Reives Taylor.

He is survived by his wife Marion Taylor of the home, two children: Joffre A. Taylor, Jr. Bronx, N.Y. and Judi Taylor of Tobyhanna, Pa., one grandson, one great grandson.
