JOHN ‘JACK’ ALBERT THOMPSON

SPRING LAKE — John “Jack” Albert Thompson, 78, of 1004 Dianne Circle in Spring Lake, died Wednesday (2/12/14) at his residence.

Arrangements are by Elizabeth Street Mortuary in Spring Lake.

 

CHARLES BRONSON JOHNSON SR.

SANFORD — Funeral  for Charles Bronson Johnson Sr.,  91,  of  Sanford, who died Tuesday (2/11/14), was held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Swann Station Baptist Church with Rev. Russell Blackmon officiating. Eulogy was by Mickey Eaton. Burial followed at Cameron Grove Cemetery.

Keyboardist was Terri Catto. A duet was sung by Rev. Blackmon and Terri Catto. Soloist was Rev. Russell Blackmon. The congregation also sang two selections. 

Pallbearers were Larry Godwin, Nick Fields, Frankie Spivey, Ronnie Holder, Phillip Martin and Charlie Martin.

Arrangements were by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

 

ELSIE MYRTLE CLARK SHIELDS

SANFORD — Funeral for Elsie Myrtle Clark Shields, 91, of Sanford, who died Tuesday (2/11/14) was held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel with Dennis Petry officiating. Burial followed at Center United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Pianist and soloist was Stephanie Nipper.

Pallbearers were Devon Brown, Richard Garner, Jim Hancock, Dustin Haigler, G.W. Douglas and Will Douglas.

Arrangements were by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

 

THOMAS ‘TOMMY’ RANSOM VICKERS

SANFORD — Thomas “Tommy” Ransom Vickers, 51, of Pittsboro died Wednesday (2/12/14) at his home.

He was born in Chapel Hill on June 13, 1962, to the late Maurice K. Vickers Sr. and Lois Mildred Pearson. He was a polymer operator for Performance Fibers.

He is survived by his wife, Pam Vickers, of the home; one son, Mitchell Vickers and fiancée Christie of Bear Creek; three brothers, Curtis Vickers and wife Tonya of Pittsboro, Kenneth Vickers and wife Ruth of Chapel Hill, and Ronald Vickers of Alamance County; three sisters, Phyllis Reeves and husband C.R. of Arizona, Reba Sullivan and husband Lee of Pittsboro, and Becky Howard and husband Dan of Moncure; several nieces and nephews; and three great-nieces and two great-nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.

PALMER GODWIN PATTISHALL

SANFORD — Palmer Godwin Pattishall, 87, of Sanford, died Friday (2/14/14) at Rex Rehabilitation Center in Apex.

Mr. Pattishall was born on Aug. 4, 1926, in Lee County to the late Alonzo Holt Pattishall and Lessie Howard Pattishall. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Davis Pattishall, and brothers Staley, Shelton, and Golden Pattishall. He owned and operated Pattishall Distributors.

He is survived by daughters, Cathy Oldham and husband Herbie of Sanford, Linda Hollar and husband Howard of Cary, Carolyn Chipman and husband Robert of Sanford, and Teresa Spencer of Sanford; a son, Larry Davis of Sunset Beach and wife Diane of Sanford; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; and a very special friend, Ms. Eunice Suggs.

The family will receive friends Sunday (2/16/14) from 5:30-7 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home. The funeral will be held Monday (2/17/14) at 11 a.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Miller and Rev. John Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo Cemetery.

The family wants to give special thanks to caregivers, Karen Battle, Dora Williams and Bianca McNeill for their special care of Mr. Pattishall.
