BURLINGTON — Jeanette Edwards Coward, 84, of Burlington, died at the Hospice Home in Burlington on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 12:45 a.m.

A native of Gresham, S.C., she was the wife of the late William Clyde Coward and the daughter of Andrew Bell Edwards and Vivian Wheeler Edwards, both deceased. She was an active member of Davis Street United Methodist Church. She was a 1950 graduate of Columbia College and a retired school teacher.

She is survived by two daughters, Karen Coward Dennis and husband Bill of Greer, S.C. and Ann Coward of Burlington; two granddaughters, Jennifer Dennis of Greenville, S.C. and Sara Dennis of Taylors, S.C.; two sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers.

A memorial service will be held at Davis Street United Methodist Church on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at 3 p.m. by Rev. Ellen McCubbin.

The family will receive friends at Davis Street United Methodist Church prior to the memorial service from 2 until 3 p.m. At other times the family will be at the residence.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Choksi and the Cancer Center of Alamance Regional Medical Center and to the entire staff of the Hospice Home for the wonderful care given to their mother.

SANFORD — Levito A. Ciacci, 91, of Sanford, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at his home.

He was born on August 6, 1922 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to the late Enrico and Ersilia Ciacci.

Levito was a member of St. Stephens Church in Sanford. He was also a member of the Quail Ridge Country Club and past member of Holy Name Society in Valhalla, N.Y. Mr. Ciacci was a carpenter before his retirement and was past recording Secretary of the Westchester Carpenters Union.

In addition to his parents, Levito was predeceased by his wife Alda Ciacci.

He is survived by his three sons, Larry Ciacci and his wife Susan of Matthews, NC, Richard J. Ciacci of Denver, CO and Peter Ciacci and his wife Camille of South Salem, NY; one daughter, Susan Lio and her husband Paul of Navarre, FL; also survived by 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

All services will be private.

SANFORD — Carmen Estefany Villatoro Gutierrez, 23, of Sanford, died Tuesday (5/27/14) at her home.

She was born on Oct. 31, 1990, in El Salvador to Jesus Villatoro and Carmen Zavala-Gutierrez.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, David F. Gutierrez, and a sister, Clara Lopez-Gutierrez.

The family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 12 noon at St. Stephen The First Martyr Roman Catholic Church with Father Robert Ippolito officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

RALEIGH — Lillian Margaret Williams, formerly of Sanford, died Sunday (5/25/14) in Raleigh.

Funeral service will be conducted at 12 p.m. Friday at Carlton L. Gray Funeral and Cremation Services in Raleigh.

Viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

She is survived by her brothers, Joseph Judd, Stewart Judd and Nathaniel Judd; sisters, Betty Williams and Jean Gaines; and a host of relatives and friends.

FAYETTEVILLE — W.L. “Bill” Lassiter, 76, of Fayetteville, formerly of Sanford, died Wednesday (5/28/14) at Cape Fear Valley Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Moore County, on July 7, 1937, to the late Leonard Lassiter and Clarice Matthews Lassiter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jessie Braddy. He was retired from Avondale as a supervisor.

He is survived by his son, Len Lassiter and wife Sandy of Cameron; a daughter, Regina Thomas and husband Tracy of Sanford; and two grandsons.

The family will receive friends Friday from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home following the visitation at 12 noon with Chaplain Joel Cameron presiding. A private burial service will follow.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Hilda Gray Davis Johnson, 77, of Sanford, who died Thursday (5/22/14), was held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Kendale Acres Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Doug Western, the Rev. Richard Barnes and the Rev. Billy Keith officiating. Burial followed at Prospect Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Dunn.

Soloists were Doris Webster and Sue Tighe. The congregation also sang.

Pallbearers were Charlie Brown, Joe Godfrey, Rev. Billy Keith, Larry McGehee, Ralph Murchison and Lester Spell.
