LILLINGTON — Rosa Mae Honeycutt, 85, of Lillington, died Tuesday (5/13/14) at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield.

She was born March 13, 1929, to the late Hurman and Rosa Johnson Matthews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert “Bob” Haire and William “Kermit” Honeycutt.

She is survived by a son, Robert Lee Haire and Kay Payne of Lillington; a daughter, Shannon Pope and husband Tim of Coats; four sisters, Mary Wilson and Sarah Gale of Fayetteville, Betty Holder of Lillington and Vicky Dean and husband Benny of Crumpler; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 12 noon today at Harnett Memorial Park with Dr. Joan Hall officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00-11:45 a.m. at O’Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home & Crematory.

SANFORD — Maggie Wall, 93, of Applegate Way, Sanford, died Wednesday (5/14/14) at Liberty Commons Nursing. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Watson Memorial-Cunningham & Son’s Mortuary.


SANFORD — Funeral service for Jacob Afton Underwood, 89, of Sanford, who died Sunday (5/11/14), was held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Sanford Chapel with the Rev. John Gordon officiating. A private burial followed at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery in Moore County with grandson Daniel Underwood presiding.

Organist was Denise Mathes and soloist was Nannette Petry.

Pallbearers were Lucas Henry, Vison Orek, Richard Garner, Zack Garner, Jared Garner and Jim Hancock.

Arrangements were by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.


SANFORD — Willie F. Snipes, 91, of 971 Tempting Church Road, Sanford, died Tuesday (5/13/14) at Central Carolina Hospital. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Knotts Funeral Home.

SILER CITY — Margie Lee French, 73, of 101 S. 3rd Ave., Apt. 302, Siler City, died Monday (5/12/14) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church in Siler City with the Rev. David Scotton officiating. Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Park.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Harris Grove Baptist Church in Siler City.

She is survived by her son, Roy Williams of Burlington; brother, Larry Williams of Siler City; sisters, Frances Marsh of Siler City, and Catherine Watson and Coleen Williams, both of Pittsboro; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives.
