JACK CRAIG

ABERDEEN — Jack Craig, 83, died Thursday, June 6, 2013 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst, N.C.

Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Pine Rest Cemetery, Robbins, N.C. with the Reverend Robert Craig officiating.

Mr. Craig was born in Sanford, NC and lived in Durham, N.C. Jack loved baseball and played American Legion for several teams. He signed with the New York Yankees organization and was later released due to a knee injury. He owned and operated auto parts businesses in Robbins and Pittsboro for many years. He was a son of the late Leonard and Carrie Pendergrass Craig, and was preceded in death by sister, Jane Craig Creery.

Jack is survived by wife, June Melvin of the home; daughter, Vickie Craig Odom of Robbins; son, Ted and wife Sandra of Robbins; grandchildren: Brandi Craig of Eagle Springs, Craig Odom of Statesboro, Ga., Bethany Craig Barden of Burlington, Megan Odom Porter of Riverside, Calif., and great-grandchildren: Carter Porter, Baine and Andrea Barden.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2013 at Kennedy Funeral Home in Robbins and other times at the home of Mr and Mrs Ted Craig, 944 Flint Hill Church Road, Robbins, N.C.

DON SHERRILL MCLEMORE

ABERDEEN — Don Sherrill McLemore, 77, died Tuesday (6/4/13) at First Health Hospice House in Pinehurst.

Memorial service will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Steven Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.

He was born in Wise, Va., on Jan. 22, 1936, to William Barrett and Margaret Anderson McLemore. He completed a degree in Latin from the University of Richmond, a Theology Degree from Dallas Theological Seminary and a Master's Degree in Linguistics from the University of Arizona. He and his wife received training in missions in Mexico and served with Wycliffe Bible Translators in British Columbia, Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Judith Ellis McLemore; three sons, Jeffrey S. McLemore and wife Susan of Minnesota, Kent L. McLemore and wife Elizabeth of Triplet, Va., and Eric Todd McLemore and wife Nancy of Cary; seven grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.

LAURA R. DANIELS

CAMERON — Laura R. Daniels, 72, of 289 McKoy Town Road, died Saturday (6/1/13) at First Health Moore Regional in Pinehurst.

She was the daughter of the late Elder John Henry and Lula Bell Blue of Dunn. She was a member of Mt. Nebo FWB Church, serving on the Mother’s Board.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Cape Fear Conference B Headquarters in Raeford with Elder Kelvin Parter and the Rev. Dr. Nathaniel J. Wood officiating. Burial will be at Minter-Alford Cemetery in Sanford.

Viewing will be held today at Cape Fear Conference B from 1 until 2 p.m., prior to the service.

She is survived by her husband, Freddie Daniels Sr.; sons, Melvin Daniels of Seat Pleasant, Md., Sylvester Daniels (Karen) of Raleigh and Freddie Daniels Jr. (Pamela) of Lanham, Md.; daughters, Fredia D. Green (Wade) of La Plata, Md., and Shanda Daniels of Gastonia; brother, John Blue (Geraldine) of Sanford; sisters, Lula Blue of Sanford, Rutha Ray of Broadway and Georgia Blue Carter of Augusta, Ga.; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

JACKIE CLIFTON PERSON

ROBBINS — Jackie Clifton Person, 58, of 109 Brookdale Drive, died Tuesday (6/4/13) at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

He is survived by his wife, Goldine Person of Carthage; son, Jackie Person Jr. of Stanford, Conn.; mother, Isabelle Person of Robbins; his siblings, William Person and Billy Person, both of Robbins, and Brenda Snow of Texas; two grandchildren, and a host nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Knotts Funeral Home. No public viewing.

ARLIE G. WRIGHT

SANFORD — Funeral service for Arlie G. Wright, 84, who died Monday (6/3/13), was held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Cool Springs Baptist Church by the Rev. Matt Martin. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

During the service the congregation sang, soloist was Frances Philips and the pianist was Jane Craig. Joe Liles gave the eulogy.

Pallbearers were Teddy Blalock, Jack Childress, Danny Cummings, Gary Garrett, Joe Liles and Billy Wolfenbarger. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Senior Men’s Sunday School Class.
