ROBERT (BOB) WAYNE MACPHERSON
SANFORD — Robert (Bob) Wayne MacPherson was born December 14, 1945 in New Brunswick, Canada and formerly of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away on January 30, 2014 in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
Bob will be missed by his loving wife, Wanda Goodwin MacPherson; his sons, Danny and Chris; stepdaughters, Deborah Underwood and Terese Brethen; his grandchildren and great-grandchild; his parents, Joyce and Bill Cheney of Glendora, California; brother, Bill Cheney; sisters, Brenda Lane, Debbie Zaremba and Michelle Gonta of California; and many dear friends and family.
We remember Bob for his wonderful outlook on life and his willingness to share that wonder with all his friends and family.

SHIRLEY LEE SMITH MURPHY
SANFORD — Mrs. Shirley Lee Smith Murphy, age 72, of Sanford, NC, died Thursday, January 30, 2014 at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
She was born in Brunswick County, NC on May 8, 1941 to her biological late mother Beulah Lee Smith. She was raised by her parents, the late Yancy Simmons and Linnie Little Simmons. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Kendall Murphy; son-in-law, Joe Coleman; sisters, Myrtle Blackmon and Alma Dubois; brothers, Horace Ray Simmons and Frank Simmons.
Mrs. Murphy is survived by son, Leo Smith and wife Jan; daughters, Debbie Coleman and Tammie Lynch, all of Sanford; three sisters, Linnie Bell Braswell of Morehead City, Mary Stevens and husband Bruce of Whiteville, and Caroline Hinson, also of Whiteville; grandchildren, Shane Coleman and Joy Nunnery, Derik Cox and wife Dorothy, McCail Collier and husband Dan; step-grandchildren, Benjy Denkins, Jeremy Denkins, Josh Denkins and wife Tracy; great-grandchild, Kayla Coleman; upcoming great-grandchild, Emma Catherine Cox; step-great-grandchildren, Emma Denkins, J.C. Denkins, Natalie Denkins and Kinsley Denkins, Brianna Nunnery and Ivie Nunnery.
Funeral service will be Sunday, February 2, 2014 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home with Chaplain Joel Cameron officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral hour, 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home. The family will not be receiving friends at home.

CURTIS RAY PARKER
LILLINGTON — Curtis Ray Parker, 60, of Lillington died Thursday (1/30/14) at his home.
He was born in Lee County, the son of the late Lawrence Curtis Parker and Hortense Davis Parker. He worked as a general contractor and later as a bridge engineer.
Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Mamers with the Rev. Patrick Broaddus and the Rev. Dan Deaton officiating. The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall.
He is survived by his mother, Hortense Parker of Lillington; son, Landis Parker of Hendersonville; two sisters, Jeanette Wester and husband Gwyn of Lillington and Carolyn Sykes and husband Fred of Broadway; two nieces and three nephews.

CHARLES ADAMS CALHOUN JR.
SANFORD — Charles Adams Calhoun Jr., 83, of Sanford and formerly of Aurora, Ohio, died Thursday (1/30/14) at Sanford Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born on July 14, 1930, in Chesterland, Ohio to the late Charles A. and Winifred Calhoun. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. He was very involved in the communities of Aurora and Sanford, serving as councilman and also as a volunteer firefighter.
He is survived by his wife, Marian Calhoun; two sons, Charles Calhoun III and David Calhoun; one daughter, Kathleen Calhoun; one brother, Ora A. Calhoun; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 6, at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Burial will be held at a later date.

SANFORD — Graveside service for Phillip M. Register Sr., 92, who died Tuesday (1/28/14), was held at 1 p.m. Friday at Grace Chapel Cemetery by the Rev. Joel Murr and Chaplin Joel Cameron.

FAYETTEVILLE — Isaiah Sampeur, 25, of Cambridge Arms Apt., Fayetteville, died Monday (1/20/14) at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
He is survived by his mother, Regina Cooley; father, Max Sampeur; sister, Tenesiakisha Cooley; and grandparents, Dorothy Little and Ronald Marks.
