PATRICK CHALFLINCH

SEAGROVE — Patrick Chalflinch, 58, of Seagrove, died Friday (12/20/2013) at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.

Arrangements will be announced by Fry and Prickett Funeral Home when available.


EMMETT SCOTT

FAYETTEVILLE — Emmet Scott, 65, of Fayetteville, died Thursday (12/19/2013) at his home. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Watson Memorial Cunningham & Sons Mortuary.


JANIE FAYE RAY

SPRING LAKE — Funeral services for Janie Faye Ray, 64, of Spring Lake, who died on Dec. 8 at the Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville, were held at noon at Bethel AME Zion Church with the Rev. Paul S. Atlas officiating.

Pallbearers were Robert King, Mumin Muhaimin, George Jones, Leory Ray, Curtis Jackson and Victim Smith. Soloists were Jared Payton and Muriel Allen. Interment is scheduled for a later date.

Ray was born in Bladen County, and is survived by her daughter Faye Jackson Smith (Calvin) of Spring Lake; sisters Lucille Flores of Augusta, Ga., Hope Thomason (Alonzo) of Fayetteville and Florence Malloy (Ronnie) of Hope Mills; brothers Tyrone Hill of Atlanta, Ga., Raefield Jordan of Fayetteville and Joseph Jordan (Tina) of Brooklyn, NY., and three grandchildren.

Arrangements by Elizabeth Street Mortuary Inc. in Spring Lake.


DORIS BURNS WILLIAMS THOMAS

SANFORD — Funeral service for Doris Burns Williams Thomas, 92, of Sanford, who died Thursday (12/19/2013), was conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Johnson officiating.

Pianist was Gerri Hearn. The Zion Christian Quartet consisting of Van Johnson, Eddie Gunter, Beth Yow, and Teresa Pilson sang several hymns. The congregation also sang one hymn.

Pallbearers were Phil Bray, David Seagroves, Chris Carroll, Billy Holt, Roger Lyons and Tom Spivey.

Arrangements were by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.


JAMES MALLETTE

CAMERON — Funeral service for James Mallette, 43, of Cameron, who died Dec. 13., was held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Works for Christ Christian Center with Dr. Alice Faye Hooker officiating.

Interment was at Johnsonville Cemetery. Pallbearers were Antonio McLean, Lamont Gilchrist, Demetrius McDougald, Leo Johnson, Tyrone Jay, Melvin McPhaul, Angelo Gilchrist, Jamal Allen, Darius Talley and Cliffort McCrimmon.

Arrangements were by Knotts Funeral Home.


JOE LESTER ALSTON JR.

APEX — Funeral service for Joe Lester Alston Jr., 89, of Apex, who died Dec. 14, was held at noon Saturday at the Mitchell Chapel AME Zion Church with the Rev. Anthony Davis officiating.

Interment was at Mitchell Chapel AME Zion Church Cemetery. Music was by the Mitchell Chapel Church Chancellor Choir with soloists by Leroy Farrar and Bishop T.D. Farrar. Pallbearers were Masonic Lodge 167 and friends.

Arrangements were by Knotts Funeral Home.


ANNIE M. FARRAR

PITTSBORO — Funeral service for Annie M. Farrar, 79, of Pittsboro, was held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Sinai AME Zion Church with Rev. Dr. Shirley Decoster officiating.

Interment was at the Pittsboro Cemetery. Soloists were Helen Dark and pallbearers were family members and friends.

CARMEN DALE BUIE COLLINS

BROADWAY — Funeral service for Carmen Dale Buie Collins, 43, of Broadway, who died Thursday (12/19/2013) was held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Pisgah Presbyterian Church in Broadway with the Rev. Doug Houston officiating. Eulogy was by Scott Yow. Burial followed at the church cemetery. Doves were released at the graveside.

Pianist was Melissa Martin. The Mt. Pisgah Presbyterian Church Choir sang two selections. Recorded music by Vince Gill was played. Gene and Reggie Rosser sang a solo. Scott Yow sang and played the guitar.

Pallbearers were Larry Godwin, Tony Cox, Jerry Ellis, Jonathan Denise, Daryl Kirby, and Donald Barnes.
