SANFORD — Mrs. Almeria McNeill Harrington, age 82, of Sanford, N.C., died Friday, July 4, 2014, at Central Harnett Hospital in Lillington, N.C.

Mrs. Harrington was born on July 29, 1931, in Harnett County, N.C., to the late Percy McNeill and Flossie Thomas McNeill. She was a member of Morris Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and also worked several years at Jonesboro Lee Drug Store. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harrington was also preceded in death by a brother, Percy McNeill, Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Neill Harrington; two daughters, Dianne H. Flynn and husband Dwight and Vickie Harrington all of Sanford, N.C.; a sister, Margaret Thomas and husband Ted of Broadway, N.C.; a grandchild, Terri Lynne Spivey and husband, Chad; three step-grandchildren; ten step-great-grandchildren and a very special caretaker, Shelia Graham of Broadway, N.C.

A graveside service will be held Monday, July 7, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church one hour prior to the graveside service. At other times, the family will be at 3785 Swann Station Road, Sanford, N.C.

SANFORD — Mr. Earl Howard Brewington, 77, of 2820 Academy St., Sanford, died Friday (6/27/14) in New York City at Albert Einstein Hospital.

He was born on Oct. 22, 1937, in Vass to Mary Peterson and Major Currie. He served both in the U.S. Army Reserves until 1955 and in the U.S. Air Force until 1963. He received honorable discharges from both branches. He retired from the New York City Housing Authority in 1989, after 29 years of service, and returned to North Carolina in 1993.

He is survived by his daughter, Mariann D. Brewington; son-in-law, Mack Allen; eight siblings; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

MONCURE — Frank Darrell Dickens, 90, of Moncure died Friday (7/4/14) at his residence.

He was born in Chatham County on March 2, 1924, to the late Bert McMillian Dickens and Clara Bane Churchhill Dickens. He was a woodworker, cabinet maker and worked at Saco-Lowell, CP&L line crew and as a tobacco farmer. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the Victory Medal and the Italy Occupation Ribbon.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Joe Dickens; and two sisters, Emma D. White and Mae D. Utley. He was a member of Christian Chapel Christian Church in Corinth.

Surviving relatives include his two sons, Darrell Dickens (Sue) of Clyde and Kent Dickens (Kim) of Moncure; two daughters, Peggy Dornak (Bill) of Jourdanton, Texas, and Sharron Womble (Billy) of Deep River; a sister, Gladys D. Sears of Lillington; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. Funeral will be held at Christian Chapel Christian Church 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Steve Johnson and Rev. Gary Moore presiding. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites.

GOLDSTON — Tommy Lester Martin, 64, died Thursday (7/3/14) at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro.

He was born in Lee County on June 16, 1950, to Elizabeth Baker Martin and the late Thomas Martin. He was a paramedic for Lee County EMS services.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Deborah Martin; daughter, Sharon Martin of Goldston; and mother, Elizabeth Baker of Richmond, Va.

Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:30-4 p.m. at the church.

Following the graveside service there will be a covered dish meal in the fellowship hall.

RALEIGH — Rev. Velma Johnson Hinton, 89, of 3604 Dewing Drive, Raleigh, died Wednesday (7/2/14) at Duke Health Raleigh Hospital.

She was the daughter of the late Earlie and Viola Hall Johnson.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 4209 S. Smithfield Road, Knightdale, N.C. Wake will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at Good Hope Church Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Earl Kipling Perry and David Hicks Hinton; one daughter, Pamela Perry Johnson; two brothers, David Curtis Johnson and Charles H. SANFORD — Martha Elizabeth Harward Harrington, 85, of Sanford, died Friday (7/4/14) at St. Joseph of the Pines in Southern Pines.

She was born April 28, 1929, in Anson County to the late Amos Harward and Sallie Caudle Harward. She was a retired seamstress.

She is survived by her husband, James Walker Harrington; two daughters, Patricia Campbell of Sanford and Barbara Poe and husband James of Gulf; and four grandchildren.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home. The family will be at the family home. The funeral service will be at Turner’s Chapel at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Pastor Reid Dickens officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

CAMERON — Carmin Grace Ziblay, 28, of Cameron died Friday (7/4/14).

Memorial services will be held at noon Monday at Jonesboro United Methodist Church by Rev. David King. Burial will be held at a later date.

She is survived by her mother, Melissa Reynolds and husband Marty of Cameron; her father, Ricky Ziblay and wife Dawn of Bear Creek; and her son, Gavin Jeremiah Ziblay. STALEY — Bobby Issac Staley, 77, of 61 Unity Powerhouse Church Road in Staley, died Friday (7/4/14) at his residence.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Unity Powerhouse Holiness Church, with visitation one hour prior at the church. Burial will be at Oliver's Chapel Church Cemetery.

MONCURE — Sheila D. Davis, 60, of 652 Old Sanford Road, Moncure, died Monday (6/30/14) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

She was born to the late Jermiah Maxwell Sr. and Joyce V. Maxwell in Commonwealth, Va. She graduated in 1979 and then went to Mercer County Community College to be a mortician, and later to Central Carolina Community College to be a CNA. She went on to work at Carolina Meadows Retirement Community in Chapel Hill, and Kinston Care Health until she retired. She joined Christ Church of Deliverance and served on the Nursing Committee and Missionary Committee and was a member of The Precious Angels and The Annointing Singers Choirs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Davis Sr.; one daughter, Niaseena Maxwell; one sister, Cynthia V. Maxwell; and two brothers, Jermiah D. Maxwell and John H. Maxwell.

She is survived by two sons, Robert L. Davis Jr., and Robert K.K. Davis; five daughters, Cintrell Davis, Robin Dolby, Dorothea Bizzell (Solomon), Michelle Thomas (Skylar), and Louana McDougald (Earl); one brother, Anthony E. Maxwell; and a host of nephews, nieces, great-nieces, great-nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Christ Church of Deliverance, Sanford. No wake is scheduled.
