HOWARD MARTIN JOHNSON
CARTHAGE — Howard Martin “Moe” Johnson, 54, died Tuesday (12/18/12) at his residence.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Friday at Pineywood Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Calhoun and the Rev. Dave Stout officiating. Burial will follow with military honors in the church cemetery.
A native of Moore County, he was the son of Martin Johnson and the late Camillus A. Johnson. He was a U.S. Army veteran and owned and operated Howard Johnson’s Painting for 26 years.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Linda Sheffield Johnson; three sons, Zachary George and wife Abigail of Golden, Colo., Chris Chisholm and wife Katie of Carthage, and Jamie Chisholm; a daughter, Amy Johnson of South Carolina; two sisters, Sherry Johnson Poindexter and husband Laurence of Sanford and Vicky Lawrence of New York; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home and at other times at the residence.

THOMAS SULLIVAN HERRING
CARTHAGE — Thomas Sullivan Herring, 55, died Tuesday (12/18/12) at his home.
He was born in Lee County on Aug. 19, 1957, to the late Horace Herring and Ellen Harper Herring. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace Sheffield and Francis Garcia; and by one brother, Ben David Herring. He worked in maintenance for the 3-M Corporation.
He is survived by his wife, Romelia Munoz Herring; son, Thomas Morales of Carthage; stepson, Herny Aldana of Sanford; stepdaughter, Shaica Aldana of Sanford; three brothers, Horace Herring Jr. of Sanford, Ronnie Herring of Bear Creek and Johnny Herring of Carthage; four sisters, Mildred Stewart of Florida, Nancy Keel of Virginia, Bonnie Bates of Broadway and Dorothy Lundy of Cameron; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 6 until 8 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be conducted Friday at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home with Mr. Rittie Moore officiating.

WILLIAM WARREN HALLOWELL
SANFORD — Graveside service for William Warren Hallowell was held Wednesday at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake with full military honors with Chaplain Daniel P. Armstrong officiating.
Special music was performed by Cassie Harman.
Arrangements were by Miller-Boles Funeral Home.
VASS — Otis Lawson, 88, died Tuesday (12/18/12) at his home.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Barbara Ann Bridges, 67, who died Thursday (12/13/12), was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at True Gospel United Church of God with Bishop Samuel Wright officiating. Burial was at Jonesboro Cemetery.
Soloists were Elder Deon Allbrooks and Dorothy Matthews.
Pallbearers were family and friends.

LEMON SPRINGS — Funeral service for Pattie Wilson McGilvary, who died Sunday (12/16/12), was held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Gilbert McDowell and the Rev. Jerry Schronce. Burial followed at the church cemetery.
During the service, the congregation sang and the soloist was Alison Wann. Pianist was Melanie Underwood.
Pallbearers were Billy Davis, Donald Nicholson, Bill Ray Jr., Billy Thomas, Gary Thomas and Larry Wann.

BROADWAY — Funeral service for Carl Ray Elkins, 82, who died Friday (12/14/12), was conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Juniper Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. John Hackney officiating. Burial followed at Broadway Town Cemetery.
During the service, Joy Hackney was the soloist and pianist, Cindy Buchanan was the organist and the Juniper Springs Church Choir sang. Eulogy was given by Cynthia Myers.
Pallbearers were Jason Morrison, Jody Davis, John Albertson, Jeremy Wicker, Joe Gendics and Robert Garrison.

BETSY J. FAUCETTE
SANFORD — Betsy J. Faucette, 75, of 111 Breezewood Road, died Tuesday (12/18/12) at Central Carolina Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Hallie and Beulah Jefferson.
She is survived by her husband, John Faucette; three daughters, Glenda Nixon of Cary, Phyllis Faucette of Sanford and Shannon Bryant (Tim) of Greensboro; one brother, James Jefferson (Sarah) of Sanford; three grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Ward Memorial Church. No wake will be held. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service.
