BROADWAY — Mr. Edward Young Freeman, 71, of Broadway, N.C, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at E. Carlton Powell Hospice Center in Lillington, North Carolina.

Mr. Freeman was born on Nov. 18, 1941, in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Lillian A. Sullivan Freeman and Charles Edward Freeman. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sons, Eddie Jr. and Brian Freeman.

He served his country in the U.S. Army. Ed served two tours in the Vietnam War as a Lieutenant and Captain where he served as a helicopter pilot. He was a hard worker who retired from Food Lion as a store manager. Ed was a loving father, husband, brother, and uncle.

He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Mess Freeman. He is also survived by his sister, Anne Smeal and husband Glenn Sr. of Holly Springs. He was loved by two nieces and two nephews and seven great-nieces and nephews.

A private Memorial Service will be held for the family. There will be no visitation.

LILLINGTON — Harold Gene Wood, 84, formerly of Fayetteville, died Thursday (12/20/12) at Windsor Point in Fuquay-Varina.

He was born in Harnett County, the son of the late Mack Leonard and Lura Johnson Wood. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Doris Byrd Wood; sister, Hortense Wood Parker; and brother, Mack Leon Wood. He started as a farmer in Harnett County and then served in Germany in the U.S. Army for 2 years. He was a member of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church in Fayetteville until moving to Lillington in 1995 when he joined Lillington Baptist Church.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Lillington Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Smith, the Rev. Condary Ellis and the Rev. Ronnie Byrd officiating. Burial will follow at Harnett Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. today at O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home.

He is survived by two sons, Alan Gene Wood and wife Beth of Clayton, and Col. Jerry Wood (U.S. Army) and wife Linse of Alexandria, Va.; six grandchildren; three sisters, Weece Wood Duffy of Charlotte, Janice Wood McLeod of Buies Creek and Billie Wood Sawyer of Erwin.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Anneris Eusebio Thellman, 32, who died Friday (12/14/12), was held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard E. Phelps officiating.

BROADWAY — Robenia Kelly, 93, died Friday (12/21/12) at Liberty Commons.

She was born on May 18, 1919, daughter of the late William Taylor Marshburn and Margaret Jane McNeill Marshburn. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Garland Franklin Kelly; her son, Garland Louis Kelly; and her grandson, Richard Kelly. She was a graduate of Boone Trail High School, was retired from Coty and was a member of the Broadway United Methodist Church.

Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J.H. McDaniels officiating. Burial will follow at the Broadway Town Cemetery.

She is survived by one daughter, Margaret Messer of Broadway; son, Johnny Kelly and wife Ruth of Broadway; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

LILLINGTON — Phyllis Ann Marie Moore Yarborough Barefoot, 51, died Wednesday (12/19/12).

She was born in Wake County, daughter of Vicky Ann Baker Moore and the late Howard Bowland Moore.

Funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Holly Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Parsons officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

She is survived by her mother, Vicky Ann Baker Moore of Morrisville; husband, Willie Glenn Barefoot of Moncure; daughters, Tammy J. Simpson (Jeremy) and Dusty Dawn Yarborough, all of Lillington; sisters, Laverne M. Berry and Leigh Linville (Wayne), all of Morrisville, and Elizabeth May of Waynesboro, Va.; brother, Clifton Moore of Morrisville; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service from 2 until 3 p.m. at Holly Springs Baptist Church.
