DAVIE COOPER WINSTEAD

SANFORD — Davie Cooper Winstead, age 86, of Sanford, N.C., died Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Central Carolina Hospital.

Mr. Winstead was born on Aug. 15, 1926, in Lee County, to the late Dorsey Waylon Winstead and Sue Bennie Cooper Winstead. He was a retired tobacco contractor and a member of Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Cooper Winstead; a sister, Gertrude Sherman; brothers, Pell, Harold, Gorman, Evander and Dorsey “Duck” Winstead. Mr. Winstead served his country in the U.S. Army.

Surviving relatives are his son, Carson Winstead and wife Melissa of Sanford; sisters-in-law, Frances Winstead, Wilma Winstead and Martha Jane Winstead; a sister, Virginia Dare Johnson and husband Doug of Sanford.

The family will receive friends Saturday, March 30, 2013, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church next to the McDowell Center and the funeral will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. The Rev. Gilbert McDowell and the Rev. Tom Spence will preside over the service with burial following at Buffalo Cemetery.

BOBBY LOUIS WHITE

SILER CITY — Bobby Louis White, 72, of 35 Martin White Road, died Tuesday (3/26/13) at Chatham Hospital in Siler City.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Centennial AME Zion Church in Bear Creek.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie White; children, Tony White (Kim) of Asheboro, Rodney White (Tina) and Zanetta White, all of Siler City; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, John White of Siler City; and two sisters, Hazel Lunsford (Gattis) of Hillsborough and Shirley McNair (Andrew) of Laurinburg.

JENNINGS CHARLES MEDLIN

CARTHAGE — Jennings Charles "JC" Medlin, 61, died Wednesday (3/27/13) at First Health Moore Regional Hospital of Pinehurst.

A Celebration of Life will be held today at 6 p.m. at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jimmy Calhoun officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home of his sister, Elaine Hardy, 126 Samuel Medlin Lane, Cameron.

He was born in Southern Pines on March 11, 1952, to John Curtis and Frances Lane Medlin. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a construction worker and a musician who played the drums and was the lead singer with a group called "Summit.” He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Frank, and a sister, Doris Horner.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Patricia Boyd Medlin; three sons, Dion and wife Jessica of Colorado, Leon and wife Jane of Carthage, and Michael Cox and wife Heather of Cameron; two brothers, Ray and wife Peggy, and Jimmy and wife Vicky, all of Cameron; three sisters, Elaine Hardy of Cameron, Patricia Kennedy and husband Charles of Robbins, and Judy Blue and husband JD of Vass; and three grandchildren.

LILA ROSE PETERSON KREISBERG

SANFORD — Memorial service for Lila Rose Peterson Kreisberg, 90, who died Monday (3/25/13), was held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bob Bulls officiating.

Recorded music was played.

KENNETH RAYMOND WATSON

SANFORD — Kenneth Raymond Watson, 74, formerly of Mansfield Center, Conn., died Wednesday (3/27/13) at Sanford Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on Nov. 3, 1938, to the late Harold Roosevelt Watson and Madeline McNulty Watson. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Charlene Ann Bernard Watson; a son, Dale J. Watson and wife Donna of Port St. Lucia, Fla.; a daughter, Deanne Robertson and husband Richard of Broadway; a sister, Martha Pena of Hope Valley, R.I.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home. The memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel.

BLADE MAVERICK PRESTON

NEW HILL — Blade Maverick Preston, 7 months, of Moncure, died Tuesday (3/26/13).

He was born on Aug. 3, 2012 in Sarasota, Fla., son of Walter Arthur Preston and Liza Dawn Miller.

The family will have a private memorial service at the Merry Oaks Baptist Church with the Rev. Alan Agee officiating.

He is survived by his father, Walter Arthur Preston of Chapel Hill; mother, Liza Dawn Miller of the home; grandmother, Elaine Hooks of the home; maternal great-grandmother, Faye Hooks of the home; paternal grandmother, Patricia Crystal; and brother, Gage Wyatt Weeks of Englewood, Fla.
