DAVIE COOPER WINSTEAD

SANFORD — Funeral service for Mr. Davie Cooper Winstead, 86, of Sanford, who died Wednesday (3/27/13) was held Saturday (3/30/13) at 11 a.m. at Jonesboro Height Baptist Church with Rev. Gilbert McDowell and Rev. Tom Spence officiating. Burial followed at Buffalo Cemetery.

Pianist and soloist was Rev. Ronnie Byrd. The congregation also sang.

Pallbearers were Duran Johnson, Mark Winstead, Robert Blackwell, David Bond, Tim Sherman, and Kendall Spence.

Arrangements were by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

 

ALICE BARTHOLD GAETA

SOUTHERN PINES — Alice Barthold Gaeta, 81, of Southern Pines, passed away on Wednesday, (3/27/13) at First Health Moore Regional of Pinehurst.

Alice was born in New York City, N.Y., on May 24, 1931 to Rudolph and Aldina Wennerholm Barthold. She retired from Sandhills Community College as an assistant instructor.

She is survived by her husband Ralph Gaeta; one daughter, Alane Gaeta-Lennon and husband Anthony of Southern Pines; one son, Dr. Ronald B. Gaeta of Brookfield, Conn.; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph and Aldina Wennerholm Barthold; and one son, Ralph A. Gaeta.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Health Hospice, 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374.

Services will be held at a later date.

The family has entrusted services to Cox Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory of Vass.

JEANNE MAE CARROLL PERDUE

SANFORD — Funeral service for Mrs. Jeanne Mae Carroll Perdue, 77, of Sanford, who died Tuesday (3/26/13) was held Saturday (3/30/13) at 2 p.m. at Swann Station Baptist Church with Rev. Russell Blackmon officiating. Burial followed at the McDougald-Holder Cemetery in Sanford.

Soloist was Rev. Russell Blackmon. A duet was sung by Steve and Terri Catto. The congregation sang with Nancy Blackmon on the piano. Joshua Bland served as a sound tech.

Pallbearers were Blain Douglas Perdue, Jr.,  Joshua Landon Stanley, B.J. Perdue, Chris Tacia, Jeffrey Smith and Tim Coble.

Arrangements were by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.


CARA EDITH LAWRENCE

NEW HILL — Cara Edith Lawrence, 91, of 4028 Old U.S. 1, died Saturday (3/30/13) at Phoenix Assisted Living Care in Cary.

She was born in Wake County on Nov. 15, 1921, daughter of the late Aley Lawrence and Cara Horton Lawrence.

Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday (4/2/13) at 11 a.m. at the New Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Jimmy Holder. Burial will follow in the church cemetary.

She is survived by several nephews and nieces, and several great-nephews and great-nieces.

The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the New Hill Baptist Church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to New Hill Baptist Church, 3700 Old U.S. 1, New Hill, NC, 27562.

Arrangements are by the Smith Funeral Home of Moncure.

 

KITTY H. WHITE

WILMINGTON — Kitty Hackney White, 88, of Wilmington, wife of 63 years to the late Robert Bailey White, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Born in Chatham County, N.C. on September 25, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Junious Joseph “J.J.” and Kate Marks Hackney. She was a member of Pittsboro United Methodist Church and formerly worked at the Institute of Government at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill until her retirement to Wilmington.

Surviving are her son, Robert “Biff” White (Denise) of Wilmington; daughter, Patsy Perkins (Arthur “Perk”) of Pittsboro, N.C.; three grandchildren, Kaitlyn White, Mesha Batts, Chance Perkins; and a great-grandson, Dalton Batts.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Brant M. Hackney.

A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date at Haywood Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Moncure, N.C.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2202 Wrightsville Ave, Suite 111, Wilmington, N.C. 28403.
