JOHN EDGAR MORRIS
SANFORD — John Edgar Morris, age 95, died peacefully Monday, June 17, 2013, at First Health Hospice House in Pinehurst, N.C.
Mr. Morris was born in Lee County, on Nov. 7, 1917, to the late William Carl Morris and Minnie Everette Morris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a twin brother, Carl Morris, and a sister, Margaret Ann Flynn. Mr. Morris was a veteran of WWII and the Korean conflict. Following a twenty-six year career in the U.S. Army, he retired with his wife to Cayce, S.C. He was active in the Broad Acres Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
A native of Harnett County, he returned to this area and with his wife built a house on Barbecue Church Road. Prior to his illness, he was an active member of Swann Station Baptist Church.
Surviving relatives include his wife of 72 years, Geraldine Rosser Morris of the home, as well as a son, Robert E. Morris and wife Tommye of Tucker, GA, and two granddaughters, Rebekah Morris of Winston-Salem and Robin Morris of Decatur, GA, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank his niece and devoted caregiver, Minnie Young, and dear friends Herman and Jean Morgan, Mickey Eaton, Mrs. Boots and Margaret Dillion.
Funeral services will be held at Swann Station Baptist Church on Saturday, June 22, 2013, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Russell Blackmon presiding. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church fellowship hall. Burial will follow at Morris Chapel Cemetery.

CARTHAGE — William Mack, 72, died Monday (6/17/13) at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
Memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Pugh & Smith Funeral Home.
He is survived by his guardians, John and Irene Ray.

GOLDSTON — Funeral service for Berta Ray Thompson Fox, 75, who died Monday (6/10/13), was held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Roberts Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. D. Gray and the Rev. Harvey Alston officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.
Soloists were the Rev. Jimmy Thompson and Pandora Mason.
Pallbearers were friends of the family.

SILER CITY — Christine Carter, 83, of 1110 Shepard Ave., died Monday (6/17/13) at home. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Knotts & Son Funeral Home in Siler City.
JANICE JOYCE COGGINS
PITTSBORO — Janice Joyce Coggins, 50, of 641 Taylor Chapel Church Road, died Saturday (6/15/13).
She is survived by a daughter, Mariah Coggins; four sisters, Lemetrius “Peaches” Staton (Toni) of Pittsboro, Drusilla Coggins (Jonathan) of Goldston, Beverly Marsh (Roger) of Randleman and Margaret Duncan (Marquail) of Spring Lake; three brothers, Bobby Coggins Jr. (Isapela) of Annadale, Va., Kenneth Coggins of Dale City, Javon Coggins of Arizona; other siblings include Eric Lassiter, John Brooks and Neesie Tarlowoh; and a host of other relatiaves and friends.
Funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday at Taylor's Chapel Church in Pittsboro. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

RONALD TERRY PENNY
SANFORD — Memorial service for Ronald Terry Penny, 71, who died Friday (6/14/13), was conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Joel Cameron officiating.
Recorded music was played. Many eulogies were given friends.
The family received friends following the memorial service.
