JOYCE FLOYD DANIELS

SANFORD — Joyce Floyd Daniels, 65, of Sanford, died Sunday (2/16/14) at her home.

She was born in Richmond County on May 8, 1948, to the late Benny Floyd and Eva Stephens Floyd. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bobby” Johnson Daniels Jr., and two brothers, Robert Floyd and J.T. Floyd. She worked as an office manager for Dewitt Trucking, Raeford Trucking, Carnes Company and Goodwin Trucking Company.

She is survived by a son, Jeff Hoopaugh and wife Holly of Hamlet; stepson, Jimmy Daniels and wife Jessica of Sanford; daughter, Cathy Williams and husband Stephen of Sanford; stepdaughter, Cindy Hall and husband Monty of Sanford; brothers, Edward Floyd and wife Stella of Pinebluff, Steve Floyd of Holden Beach, Ray Floyd and wife Brenda of Ellerbe, Charles Floyd and wife Diane of Hickory, Dennis Floyd of Ellerbe, and Alan Floyd and wife Frances of Wadesboro; sisters, Sue Ashworth and husband James of Holden Beach, Helen Parker and husband James of Arkansas, and Elizabeth Smith of Franklin; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be today at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Yow officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home, but friends are welcome to visit at the home.

BUNNLEVEL — Janie Bell, 66, of 187 Evans Bell Lane, Bunnlevel, died Friday (2/14/14) at home.

Funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Cape Fear Conference “A” Headquarters in Erwin with the Rev. Kenneth Swann and Elder Elizabeth Harris officiating. Burial will follow at McLean Cemetery in Bunnlevel.

She is survived by her husband, James E. Bell; daughters, Mary L. Blue (Darryl) of Linden, Stephane Bell of Dunn, Beverly B. Parker (Derrick) of Lillington, Collette Malloy (Roderick) of Erwin, and Valarie B. Williams and Tai-Kisha Bell, both of the home; sons, Tylane Bell of Linden, and Richard Bell (Donya) and Ezell Bell, both of Dunn, Alexander Bell of Bunnlevel, Norman Bell (Gail) of Lillington, Griffin Bell of Sanford, Chris Bell of the home and Tirrell Bell (Shena) of Cameron; sisters, Mary H. McLean (Jimmy) of Bunnlevel, and Betty McKoy (Terry) and Margaret McDougald of Lillington; brother, Lee Vernon Harris of Erwin; 34 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held today from 2 to 6 p.m. at Dafford Funeral Home in Dunn.

JOHN ALBERT THOMPSON JR.

SPRING LAKE — John Albert “Jack” Thompson Jr., 78, of 1004 Dianne Circle, Spring Lake, died Wednesday (2/12/14) at home.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Thompson; daughters, Regina Thompson (Xadu) and Reyna Thompson; son, Reginald Thompson; brother, Curtis Johnson; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.

A visitation will be held today at 1 p.m. at Elizabeth Street Mortuary in Spring Lake.

BUDDIE EUGENE GRIFFIN

SANFORD — Buddie Eugene Griffin died Thursday (2/13/14) at the Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville.

He was born in Noblesville, Ind., on April 14, 1942. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was also a retired truck driver. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Virginia and Horace Griffin; and a stepson, Jeffrey Compton.

He is survived by his wife, Bessie Griffin; stepson, Paul Compton; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Compton; sister, Pamela and her husband, Rex Cecil; one brother, Gary L. Griffin; four nieces; three nephews, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

SANFORD — Charles Richard Ley, 90, of Sanford, died Tuesday (2/18/14) at the Hospice House of Wake County. Arrangements are incomplete at this time but will be announced by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.
