CAMERON — Todd Michael Kirkland, 40, of Cameron, died Thursday (2/20/14) at his home.

He was born on Oct. 29, 1973, in Marquette County, Mich., to the late Aaron Eugene Kirkland and Marian Saari Baldini Kirkland.

He is survived by his wife, Melena Darlene Hill; stepmother, Eliza Marshal Kirkland of Cleveland, Tenn.; a daughter, Miranda Page Kirkland of the home; brothers, Zachary Tate Kirkland of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Jon Quintous Kirkland of Cleveland, Tenn.; stepbrother, Chad Dorsett of N.Y.; and a sister, Sara Austin Waton of Richland, Ga.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at 364 Mayer Road in Cameron.

CARTHAGE — Stanley Warmbrod, 65 of Carthage, died Feb. 12 at his home.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. March 2 at First Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Carthage conducted by the Rev. Rick Martindale. The family will receive friends prior to the service at Fry and Prickett Funeral home from 2 to 2:45 p.m.

Born in Washington D.C., he was a son of the late Colonel Karlton and Celeste Warmbrod. He worked mostly in construction.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Beekman Warmbrod.

He is survived by a daughter, Katherine Price and husband David of Savannah, Ga.; sons, Max Warmbrod and wife Natalie of Asheville, and Phillip Warmbrod of Carthage; brothers, Hal “Bud” Warmbrod and wife Tina of Wendell, and Richard Warmbrod of Whispering Pines; sisters, Faye Warmbrod and wife Jane of Whispering Pines, and Anne Bunce and husband Wiley of Whispering Pines; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

BURLINGTON, N.J. — Raymond Asbury Thompson, 81, of 203 York St., Burlington, N.J., died Monday (2/17/2014) at his home.

Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Baptist Church, 950 Jacksonville Road, Burlington, N.J. Viewing is scheduled for 10 a.m. and interment will follow at Oddfellow Cemetery in Burlington.

Survivors include daughter, Antoinette Horner and Roxanne Harris; son, Reginald Creacy (Karen) of Sanford; sister, Ruth Thompson Battle of Sanford; eight grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

SILER CITY — William Darryl “Dusty” Martin, 52, of Siler City, died Friday (2/21/14) as a result of a car accident in Raleigh.

He was born on Nov. 6, 1961, in Lee County, to the late William Booker Martin Jr. and Shelby Stone Martin. He was an operations supervisor at the Orange Water and Sewer Authorities’ Jones Ferry Road Water Treatment Plant for the last seven years. He previously had worked at treatment plants in Lee County, Siler City, Cary, and Chatham County.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Paula Parson Martin; sons, James William Martin and Brandon Reese Martin, both of the home; and a sister, Debra Martin Millikin and husband Roger of Sanford.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home in Sanford with Rev. Robert Yandle officiating.

FAYETTEVILLE — Funeral service for Christopher Michael Bryant, 41, of Fayetteville, who died Feb. 15 at his home, was held at 2 p.m. Friday at Elizabeth Street Mortuary Chapel in Spring Lake.

Tim Gore officiated and interment is scheduled for a later date.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Joseph Oren “Joe” Dowdy, 87, of the Asbury Community of Sanford, who died Tuesday (2/18/14) at his home, was conducted at 3 p.m. Friday at Asbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Donald Burns officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Pianist was Alice Clayton. The Asbury Church Choir sang one selection and the congregation sang two songs.

Pallbearers were Jason Phillips, Jody Wicker, Joshua Phillips, Dwayne  Phillips, Doug Gunter, Ronald Thomas, John Hall and Jeter Dowdy.

Arrangements were by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.



SANFORD — Funeral service for Charles Richard Ley, 90, of Sanford, who died Tuesday (2/18/14), was held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Mark Westrick officiating. Burial followed at Buffalo Cemetery with military rites.

Recorded music was played. Pallbearers were David Owen, Justin Ley, Rick Ley, Terry Ley, Darren Ley and Kevin Ley.
