SANFORD — Carlton William McNeill, age 68, of Sanford died Saturday, July 5, 2014, at Wake Medical Center Cary Campus.

Mr. McNeill was born in Harnett County, on May 7, 1946, to Almeta Parrish McNeill and the late Phoenix McNeill. He was retired from the Federal Civil Service after forty-one years. Mr. McNeill was preceded in death by his wife, Janice M. McNeill and a brother, Mitchell McNeill. He served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, a member of the Jonesboro Masonic Lodge Buffalo #172, Jonesboro Heights Order of Eastern Star Chapter 310 and a member at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church.

Surviving relatives include his mother, Almeta Parrish McNeill of Sanford; a daughter, Dawn McNeill Holmes (Joey) of Broadway; sisters, Phyllis M. Poe (Wayne) of Sanford, Elaine M. Brown (Marcelle) of Lillington, Jane M. Sullivan (George) of Sanford and Robin M. Thompson (JW) of Sanford; brothers, Foster McNeill (Beverly) of Sanford, Tim McNeill (Donna) of Cameron and two grandchildren, Logan and Lexi Holmes.

The funeral will be held at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Gregg A. Presnal and the Rev. Ray Brooks presiding. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall following the service and other times at his daughter's home, Dawn and Joey Holmes, 13660 NC 27 W, Broadway, NC 27505.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Morris Chapel United Methodist Church Building Fund, 8533 Cox Mill Rd, Sanford, NC 27332.

SANFORD — Mrs. Pauline McDuffie Holt of 524 Pyrant Road, Sanford, N.C., died Sunday, July 6, 2014, at her home.

She was born in Caswell County, daughter of the late Daniel Lucian McDuffie and Ava Ellington McDuffie. She was a graduate of Greenwood School and worked at Siemens, Herman Miller, and GKN as a machine operator until she retired. She was a lifetime member of Grace Chapel Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel “Sol” Holt; twin sister, Geraldine Harrison; sister, Helen Pyrant; and brothers, Harold McDuffie and Daniel L. McDuffie, Jr.

She is survived by a son, Michael Holt of Sanford; two daughters, Ava Coley of Sanford and Sola Sue Edwards of Sanford; granddaughter, Jamie Wesner and her husband Scott of Carthage; two great-grandchildren, Hope Wesner and Jackson Wesner; a brother, William “Billy” McDuffie and wife Nancy of Sanford; a sister, Carolyn Talbott of Sanford; a special niece, Julie Ann Gunter and her husband, Brian, of Arcanum, Ohio and a special friend, Arthur “Happy” Ferguson of Vass, N.C.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. prior to the funeral service at Grace Chapel Christian Church and at other times, the family will be at 520 Pyrant Road, Sanford, N.C.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 3 p.m. at Grace Chapel Christian Church with the Rev. Robert Yandle and Mr. James Estes officiating. Burial will follow at Grace Chapel Cemetery.

SILER CITY — Charles T. Campbell, 81, of Siler City died Saturday, July 5, 2014 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Mr. Campbell was born June 26, 1933, the son of Charlie Taylor and Hazel (Pickett) Campbell. Mr. Campbell was a native of Chatham County, a member of First Wesleyan Church, and a member of the Ken Smith Sunday School Class. Charles served in the Army, served the Siler City community in the monument business and as co-owner/operator of Chatham Monument Company for 60 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Donald Campbell.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years: Janice Jones Campbell; daughter: Cynthia Campbell Jacobs and husband Jake of Sanford, NC; son: Greg Campbell and wife Ann of Bear Creek, NC; grandchildren: Joey White, Whitney White, Howie Windham, Matthew Campbell and Zach Campbell; great-granddaughter: Hailey White.

Visitation was held Monday, July 7, 2014 at the Smith & Buckner Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the First Wesleyan Church, 608 N. 3rd Ave., Siler City with Donald Southern and Dr. Eddie McClure officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery.

TARBORO — Ida Ruth Owens Moseley died Sunday, July 6, 2014.

Ruth had been a resident at Golden Living Center in Greenville, NC for several years prior to receiving loving end of life care at the Service League of Greenville Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born July 26, 1922 to Hudie and Mollie Owens. She lived her life in Edgecombe County; a true farm wife and mother. She was the dedicated wife of World War II veteran, Amos C. Moseley. When her husband was called to serve his country in the Pacific Theater of World War II, Ruth was left behind with 3 small children all under the age of 5. She was a strong and loving mother surviving alone with her children during the war. Upon her husband's return from Japan, they settled into North Carolina farm life. Ruth worked the fields with her husband and children as well as performing all the duties of a homemaker to provide her family with a comfortable home. Ruth had a delightful and dry sense of humor which she used to regale her children with stories from her childhood. She maintained her dry wit throughout her life.

Ruth is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Connie Moseley of Greenville, NC; her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Paul Bright of Sanford, NC; her sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Danny Wainwright of Lexington, KY; seven grandchildren, Dr. Robert Bright of Phoenix, AZ, Randall Bright and wife Harriet of Pittsboro, NC; Donna Lynn Moseley, Esq., of Fayetteville, NC; Dr. Cynthia Moseley Kirby and husband Randy of Whiteville, NC; Kimberly Moseley Ladenthin and husband Tom of Grand Junction, CO.; Allen Moseley and wife Sara of Rocky Mount, NC; William Moseley and wife Lisa of Pinetops, NC. She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Amos C. Moseley, her son, Clark Moseley, her parents, Hudie and Mollie Owens; three brothers, Edgar Owens, Henry Owens, Robert Owens; and two sisters, Dolly Mae Smith and Marjorie Cobb.

Family visitation will be held at Carlisle Funeral Home, Tarboro, North Carolina on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 10 a.m., with funeral service following at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Carlisle Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Moseley Family Cemetery, Hwy 258, Crisp, North Carolina.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Golden Living Center for the excellent care, love and support they provided our Mother and Grandmother. We are also grateful to the Service League of Greenville Inpatient Hospice for her comforting and peaceful end of life care.

SANFORD — Graveside service for Almeria McNeill Harrington, 82, of Sanford, who died Friday (7/4/14), was held Monday at 11 a.m. at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Gregg A. Presnal officiating.

Soloist and guitarist was Tracy Thomas.

Pallbearers were Tony McNeill, Dwight Flynn, Steve Thomas, Travis Thomas, John Porter III and Laurel H. Cameron Jr.

MONCURE — Funeral service for Sheila Diane Davis, 60, of Moncure, who died Monday (6/30/14), was conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Christ Church of Deliverance with Minister Sharon Crump officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.

Music was provided by The Precious Angels and soloist was Rachel Goldston.

Pallbearers were Robert Davis Jr., Robert “KK” Davis, Jawuan Smith, Ricky Headen Jr., Devonte Headen and Fletcher Norwood.

CARTHAGE — Brenda Ann McNeill Conner, 65, of Carthage, died Monday (7/7/14) at her home.

A celebration of life will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Halls Memorial Church with the Rev. John Stinnett officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.

She was born in Cameron on June 22, 1949, to Johnny and Florence McNeill. She worked as a nurse's assistant. She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Florence McNeill; and brother, Raymond McNeill.

She is survived by her children, Kim Fallin (Jim) of Sanford, Brian Hinesley (Shelia) of Cameron, Kevin Conner and Leslie Conner, both of Carthage; sisters, Darlene Sullivan of Tennessee and Nancy Sada of Oak Island; brothers, Wayne McNeill of Tennessee and Jim McNeill of Aberdeen; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

SANFORD — Betty Ruth Speagle Christmas, 80, died Sunday (7/6/14) at Sanford Health and Rehab.

She was born in Chatham County, on May 14, 1934, to the late Dock Summy Speagle and Corrie Marshall Speagle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Japon Christmas; four sisters and one brother.

She is survived by her son, Billy Dowd of Sanford; and a sister, Norma Wicker of Sanford.

Funeral service will be held at New Life Praise Church on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jeff Chappell and the Rev. Roger Thomas officiating.
