BLANCHE L. WICKER

SANFORD — Blanche L. Wicker, 76 of Sanford passed away Saturday (8/31/13) at Sanford Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Feb. 4, 1937, in Harnett County to the late Herbert Clyde and Mae Omie Harris.

In addition to her parents, Blanche was predeceased by her loving husband, William L. Wicker; one son, Martin Dean Wicker and two sisters, Rita Bonner and Glenda Mae Wilkie.

She enjoyed listening to music and was a big “Elvis Fan”. She also enjoyed dancing, gardening and going to her church. She enjoyed the simple things in life and loved her family deeply.

Blanche is survived by two sons, Stanley Wicker and Ricky Wicker and his wife Rose Mary; daughter, Wendy Le Bleu and her husband Jess; two brothers, William Jack Harris and Bobby Lynn Harris; grandchildren, Jake Holder, Brandy Whitaker, Dustin Wicker and Ethan Wicker; great grandchildren, Hannah Whitaker and David Miller; also survived by 3 step-great grandchildren and many other family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Monday from 2-3 p.m. at Miller-Boles Funeral Home. A graveside service will immediately follow the visitation at Buffalo Cemetery.

EUGENE MALONE

SILER CITY — Great reunions were made on Saturday (8/31/13) when Eugene Malone, 82 passed away at 3:50 am in High Point, NC. Born on Feb. 8, 1931, to Airone and Gladys Mashburn Malone, Eugene resided with his wife of 14 years, Mary Sprinkle Malone, at 1850 Stemp Everhart Road, Thomasville, NC and 111 Trenor Lane, Powells Point, NC. Previously, he resided in Siler City for approximately 50 years.

Along with his wife, Mary, Mr. Malone is survived by four children and two stepchildren: Pat Elrod of Charlotte, Judy Lane and husband Bill Lane of Kitty Hawk and Goldsboro, Don Malone and wife Rhonda Malone of Winston Salem, Lisa Williams and Joseph Williams of Kitty Hawk, Janyce Sprinkle of Denton and Amy Springer and husband Ted also of Denton. In addition, he is survived by eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Surviving siblings are: Lennie Malone of High Point, Catherine Wright of Siler City and Barbara Lopossay of Bennett.

Mr Malone was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 46 years, Lydia Ella "Pi" Malone, brothers: June Malone and Gary Malone and sisters: Lorraine Mensch, Polly Landreth, Betty Adcock and Cecil Sjoblom. Eugene was also preceded in death by one grandson, Addison Malone.

The family will receive friends on Monday (9/2/13) at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday September 3rd at 1pm at Oakwood Cemetery in Siler City.

Mr Malone was a loving husband, a wonderful father and an amazing grandfather. He will be missed immensely.

 

MONNIE HOLDER SULLIVAN

SANFORD — Monnie Holder Sullivan, 90, of the Barbecue Church Community, died Saturday (8/31/13) at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford.

She was born Oct. 25, 1922, in Harnett County to the late Andrew Jackson Holder and Sarah Margaret “Maggie” Thomas Holder. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Richard Sullivan; a son, John Richard Sullivan, Jr.; and a brother, Clayton Holder. She was a member of Barbecue Presbyterian Church and was honored with lifetime membership in the Presbyterian Women of the Church. She worked thirty-five years at Wenger’s Restaurant.

She resided with her daughter Ruby Sullivan Campbell and the late T. W. Campbell. She is also survived by a son, George Andrew Sullivan Sr. (Jane) of Sanford; daughter Margaret Sullivan Holder (Ralph) of Nags Head; sister Zula McIver (Cliff) of Olathe, Kan.; ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday (9/1/13) from 6-8 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home. The funeral will be Monday (9/2/13) at 2 p.m. at Barbecue Presbyterian Church with Rev. Sandy Williams officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

NEW YORK, N.Y. — Funeral services for Kathy L. Marsh, 55, of 2375 Southern Blvd., Apt 3A, The Bronx, New York, N.Y. who died Wednesday (8/21/13),  will be 3 p.m. Sunday (9/1/13) at Evans Chapel AME Zion Church, Pittsboro, N.C.

She is survived by her mother, Irma Marsh; two daughters, Erica Brinson of Aiken, S.C. and Champagne D. Marsh of The Bronx, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Maxwell Upson and Tiffany Upson of Aiken, S.C.; three aunts, Helen Marsh of Pittsboro, N.C., Francis Vittoro of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Mary Marsh of The Bronx, N.Y.; and two uncles, Joseph Marsh of New York, N.Y. and Jerry Marsh of The Bronx, N.Y.

SANFORD — Carro J. McLucas 68, of 1905 A Tramway Road in Sanford died Saturday (8/31/13) at Central Carolina Hospital, in Sanford.

RICHARD WENTWORTH WEBBER JR.

MOUNT GILEAD — Richard Wentworth Webber Jr., 58, of Mount Gilead ddied Wednesday (8/28/13) at FirstHealth Hospice House of Pinehurst.

Richard was born in Stuart, Fla. on Jan, 15, 1955, to Richard and Virginia Dennison Webber.

He is survived by two sisters, Suzanne Blumenauer of Winter Park, Fla. and Deborah Bell of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Virginia Dennison Webber.

All services will be private.

ALVA LEE REED ASBURY

CAMERON — Funeral service for Alva Lee Reed Asbury,  82, of Cameron, who died Monday (8/26/13) was held Saturday (8/31/13) at 10 a.m. at Hillmon Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Wayne O’Quinn officiating. Comments were by her daughter, Lori Clemenger, and granddaughter Jamie Upton. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

Pianist was Joyce Rosser. The Hillmon Grove Baptist Church Choir sang three selections and the congregation sang one song.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Campbell, John David Joplin, Captain John B. Miller, John H. Miller, Randy Reed, and SGM David Upton.

Arrangements were by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

 

EARL NEWBY

SANFORD — Services for Earl Newby, 64, of Sanford, who died Monday (8/26/13), were held at 1 p.m. Saturday (8/31/13) at Knotts Funeral Home Chapel in Sanford.

The Rev. Barry Palmer officiated, and soloists were Kathy McAden and Tonya Burns.
