LILLINGTON — Mr. Robert Reynolds Mason Sr., 77, of Lillington died Monday, September 2, 2013 at his home.

He was born in Harnett County, the son of the late Wade Clarendon and Hassie Brown Mason. Mr. Mason was a Trooper with the NC Highway Patrol for 25 years in Jones and Lenior, Johnston and Wayne counties. He also served two terms as Sheriff of Jones County. Mr. Mason returned to live in Harnett County after retirement. He was a US Army veteran and served as a Mason and a Shriner. Mr. Mason served as the Grand Master of the Zion Lodge #81 in Trenton. He was Commander of the Clen Newton Post 154 American Legion. Mr. Mason was very instrumental in the formation of the local USA Boy Scout Troop 111 in the Trenton area. He was preceded in death by his sister, Janie Seagroves of Sanford and nephew, Keith Thomas of Lillington.

Memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Spring Hill United Methodist Church in Lillington with Rev. Terry Williams and Rev. Randy Beasley officiating. A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Spring Hill United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Polly McDaniel Mason of Trenton; son, Robert R. Mason Jr. and wife Heather M. Mason of Herndon, VA; daughter, Anita Mason Shaver and husband Ron Shaver of Browns Summit, NC; stepson, Billy Taylor of Trenton; grandchildren, Robert R. Mason III, Addison Wade Shaver and Elisabeth Margaret Shaver; step-grandson, William Harrison Taylor; four sisters, Alva Lee Thomas of Lillington, Libby Mason of Lillington, Kay Upchurch and husband Bennie of Broadway and Faye Upchurch and husband Durward of Lillington; special nieces and nephews, Carlos Bediger, Steve Seagroves, Al Upchurch, Jason Upchurch, Reggie Thomas, Lorie Chambers, Angie Upchurch Jordan and Allison Smith.

The family would like to thank the devoted and loving caregivers, Sunnie Stone, Shavaonda Smith, Chelsea Sasser, Angie Groover, Connie Davis, Marsha Thomas and Von Watson. Mr. Mason was married to Janis Bullard Howard of Smithfield and Dolly Thornton of Grantham.

SILER CITY — Floyd White Sr., 93, of Sam Lowe Road, died Monday (9/2/13) at Alamance Regional Hospital in Burlington.

Funeral service will be held today at 7 p.m. at Knotts & Son Funeral Home in Siler City. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Liberty.

He is survived by his children, Patricia Bowden and Dale White-Moore, both of Siler City, and Robbie White (Meilini) of Asheboro; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

DURHAM — Funeral service for Jimmie McKoy, 67, of 608 Holloway St., who died Wednesday (8/28/13), was conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Knotts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Brenda Harrington. Burial was at Lee Memory Gardens.

BRONX, N.Y. — Funeral service for Kathy L. Marsh, 55, of 2375 Southern Blvd., who died Wednesday (8/21/13), was conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Evans Chapel AME Zion Church with the Rev. Kenneth Swann officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.

Soloist was Tracee McLaughlin.

SANFORD — Funeral service for Deacon Jesse Lee Page, 69, of Cox Maddox Road, who died Tuesday (8/27/13), was conducted Saturday at 3 p.m. at St. Mark United Church of God with Elder Malcolm Curry officiating. Burial was at Lee Memory Gardens.

Soloist was the Rev. Curtis Boykin.

Pallbearers were friends of the family.

CARTHAGE — John Bingham Wicker, 89, died Monday (9/2/13).

A celebration of life will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Yates-Thagard Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Johnson and the Rev. Darrell Garner officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

He was born in Harnett County on Sept. 2, 1924, to Floyd and Alma Patterson Wicker. He retired from Sanford Brick & Tile Company after 43 years of service. He was a member of Yates-Thagard Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eula Mae Garner Wicker; and his parents, Floyd and Alma Patterson Wicker.

He is survived by one daughter, Teresa Wicker Mull and husband Randy of Carthage; one son, Jason Wicker and wife Laurie of Carthage; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at Cox Memorial Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. today and other times at the home.

SANFORD — Graveside service for Blanche Wicker was held on Monday at 3 p.m. at Buffalo Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Darren Moore officiating.
