NELLIE S. THOMAS
JACKSONVILLE, FL — Nellie S. Thomas, 83, died Saturday, May 11 in Jacksonville, Fla.
She born on January 21, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Mickler and Beatrice Sheppard of Walhalla, S.C. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Warren Thomas; a son, Jerry Thomas, and two sisters.
Surviving are three sons: Larry S. Thomas (Patricia) of Sanford, Terry Thomas of Jacksonville, Florida, and Eddie Thomas (Tracy) of Deatsville, Alabama. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Gracie Thomas of Broadway, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at the Broadway Cemetery on Friday, May 24, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Thomas presiding.
Beaches Chapel by Hardage-Giddens in Jacksonville Beach, Fl. assisted the family.
The family will receive friends after the service.
CAROLYN FORREST MASKE
ROBBINS — Carolyn Forrest Maske, 68, of 1667 N. Howard Mill Road, died Tuesday (5/21/13) at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Funeral service will be conducted Friday at 3 p.m. at Pine Mountain Friends Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Joey Greene and the Rev. Michael Parenti officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
She was born in East Laport and was site manager for five years for Moore County Department of Aging. She was preceded in death by her father, Clyde Ernest Forrest Sr.; mother, Josephine Andrew; and her siblings, Martha Faye Dawson, Clyde Ernest Forrest Jr., John Earl Forrest and Louie Forrest.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Wayne Maske of Robbins; daughters, Renee' Boutin Andrew and husband Darrell of Robbins, and Pamela Boutin Hannon and husband Joe of Goldston; son, Christopher Schliesman of Kansas; sister, Helen Humbertson of Biscoe; brothers, Douglas Forrest and wife Becky, and Roger Forrest, all of Carthage, and Ted Forrest and wife Helen of Robbins; three grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Willa Forrest of Parkwood and Jeanne Forrest of Seagrove; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held today from 6 until 8 p.m. at Joyce-Brady Chapel in Bennett and other times at the home of her daughter, Renee' B. Andrew, North Moore Road, Robbins.

MARY ALICE DEVOTO BARRETT
SANFORD — Funeral service for Mary Alice Devoto Barrett, 69, who died Friday (5/17/13), was held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Lemon Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Andy Foley and Dr. Jim Whitehead officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery.
Pianist was Janet Childress. Soloist was Lynda Matthews and Mrs. Whitehead. Soloist and guitarist was Billy Joe Carter.
Pallbearers were Billy Carter, Lester Skinner, Louis Bender, Audney Terry, Marty Venable, Larry Mills, Melvin Upchurch and Dowell Eakes.

EVELYN MORRIS OLDHAM
SANFORD — Funeral service for Evelyn “Estell” Morris Oldham, 94, who died Saturday (5/18/13), was held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Faith Bible Church with the Rev. Joe Gould officiating. Burial followed at Lee Memory Gardens.
During the service, the congregation sang and soloist was Scott Partington. The Rev. Gould read special comments and scripture. Pianist was Karen Minter.
Pallbearers were Josh Pearce, Scott Partington, Barry McNeill, Mitch Conder, Jimmy Bass and Bobby Kelly.

SANFORD — David Jerell “Twigg” McNeill, 31, of 994 Tempting Church Road, died Friday (5/17/13) at UNC Hospital, Chapel Hill.
He is survived by his children, TaKira’h K. McNeill, Tyuana R. Armstrong, Malakai N. Neihaus and Maliyah N. McNeill; his parents, David McLean and Joyce McNeill McLean of Sanford; two brothers, Carlos McNeill of Sanford and Michael Byrd of Winston-Salem; one sister, Carla McNeill of Richmond, Calif.; paternal grandmother, Effie Lyles of Richmond, Calif.; maternal grandparents, Willie and Gertrude Snipes of Sanford, and Edward and Vergie Hooker of Saginaw, Mich.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Works For Christ. Burial will be at Tempting Congregational Church Cemetery.

HELEN UPCHURCH CUMMINGS
SANFORD — Funeral service for Helen Priscilla Upchurch Cummings, 67, who died Saturday (5/18/13), was held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Duncan Baptist Church with Pastor David McLaurin officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery.
Pianist was Pat Kelly. The congregation sang.
Pallbearers were Danny Gunter, Stanley Cotten, Gaige Berryman, Trent Clark, Paul Utley and Jack Patterson.
